Art & Inspiration The Photoshop thread to end all Photoshop Threads!

  1. kind of off topic, but figured I'd throw it out there for you guys good with photohshop & all those type of editing & creating tools...my dads business may change its name in the near future & I was thinking it'd be cool to get a nice logo done or at least give him some ideas to show him.. I was thinking an early 50's chevy truck lowered pulling a tear top trailer with the name somewhere involved..."Carlton Campers & Classics"

    Hey Jesse,
I'm really busy this weekend, but will set up an offline account like photobucket soon. In the meantime you'll just have to click on the photos to enlarge.

I'll need some time to play with the scallops and see what looks good.

Thanks Dave, BTW This is (or was) the car that I'm totally inspired by.I don't want to copy Dave , but I do want to do something really similar in spirit..matter of fact the Gold Scallops were his idea and i like that(Kinda a tribute to the Jerkury..haaaa!) - GlassGuy's Olds. I'm sick that it is seriously damaged right now (saw it yesterday and wanted to puke, as well a murder the guy that cut Dave off and caused the accident. He's currently battling with the insurance company and the Olds is sitting in front of his shop, which sucks.
PS I don't think the Buick is quite low enough. But, Lakes might change that .

I'll check...Soooooo can I get some help with the 57 Buick on the previous page. I'm obsessed and my small brain is going to explode. BTW my obsession with 57/58s may have started with James Ds unbelievable photo- mods on my 54 last spring.

Here's the fifty-seven with lake pipes, courtesy of my old '58 Belair.

Have been working on scallops, but I'm not satisfied with the results yet.

Looking good so far gents, thanks! Daaamnn I love that 57 Century (or is it a Special). Nice job with the rear glass on the chop. Such evil looking cars, even bone stock.

I tried several variations of scallops on this car, and none of them looked right.
They all competed with that sweep-spear.

The 1957 Buick sweep-spear may be the most elegant piece of chrome ever to grace the flanks of a fifties car.
So I did the unthinkable: I removed it!
The idea was to open up an expanse of undecorated body to play with.
But then I noticed that car went from sporty to sinister with that one change.

So just removed the too-heavy chrome taillight surrounds and replaced them with 1957 Chrysler units. Then added Buick wire wheels.

And Voilà - a Buick version of the Cliff Inman Chrysler.

Not what you asked for, but I like it!

Thanks for all the help on the 57 you guys. Sorry to say I passed on buying it today because the car was NOTHING like what was claimed on Craigslist or in phone conversations with the sellers"mechanic" and representative ..who seemed to believe that a "solid driver" is a currently unstartable car the mice living in the aircleaner, carb and trunk, very sketchy wiring (no working windows or taillights+mice= sketch), leaking radiatior, highly questionable front suspension not to mention body and rust issues not shown or perviously discussed. I don't get it...Why waste people's time like this? The ad is still up on CL New Hampsire if anyone is interested. I got the initial $6500 price down to $5500, but am gonna pass. If it was a Special or Century I might pull the trigger. But, without the 3 piece rear window and slightly different and sexier) body contours..not gonna happen. I'm not willing to sell my 54 to get into this car...waaay to many potential issues even without counting the potential and notorious balljoint and dynaflow landmines.

That's too bad man, but good for you on being able to walk away.

Have you reported the listing to CL?

    Ok,
I'll try mine. I could use a little encouragement to get back on track with this project. How about a 3-4" chop and medium blue metalic paint.
Oh yea, put the patch panels in the rear quarters while you are at it.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

PS I posted this earlier on post #7292 but had no takers, any help here, Thanks
