WOO Hoo finally got a '48 COE!

OK Ima dumba$$... I didn't get it... lol

 

No need to use several u-joints. Cut the steering shaft shorter and two will do you fine. Here's one I did back in the late 90's with a 48 Chevy COE on a 78 3/4T frame. Upper joint was in the cab. The steering column was out of a 70's Chevy van shorten 14"

Great pic's. What kind of flat bed you doing a ramp set up or rollback?

 

Just a flat bed, maybe with a little beaver tail.. It'll be set up to pull a trailer for project cars..
The bed will kinda look like a tow truck bed outta the forties or fifties

Hit a milestone yesterday... I got to drive my COE about forty feet.. I got all the steering issues figured out and taken care of.. So full steam ahead to mount the rest of the sheetmetal and prime one color

here's how I solved the steering problem. I used two sbc double roller timing chains and four bearings and made a bridge. The other pic is of the master cylinder, still mounted under the cab using the original pedals.








And a little video of me loading the COE on the trailer so I could clean the engine and look for leaks.

I saw a wonderful 55 or so GMC cab over on vacation last week in central NY. It was on highway 20 and in a field. The amazing thing was that massive grille was still shiny chrome and the truck was red. That beast would make someone a wonderful rid.

 

Update:
I got my head down and got to work this weekend. I built a bed for the COE and got it flat black.. Now it's starting to look sinister
