Here are some pics from my hometown, Dumas, TX. I believe the year is 1939, at least the pic of the hamburger stand is. We used to live about 1000 ft. from that ATSF railroad track.

Barely 20, Jean starred opposite Gable in "Red Dust," released 1932. Amazing how suggestive the stills and posters could be, back then in the PRE-code era. Clark and Jean went on to make six movies together.

You are SO right! I hate like hell to sound like Simon Cowell or some movie reviewer, as I am just somebody who's loved movies all my life.

BUT, when you take "Wife VS. Secretary" in the context of 1936, it WAS indeed a "melodrama," very much like a three-act stage play or, by extension, a '20s silent. A tragedy has a sad ending and a lesson, usually; a melodrama often has a happy ending."

That said, "WVS" was a very successful money-maker. Gable and Loy could have walked through it and been as popular as ever. In the last third of the movie, Jean Harlow shows her acting depth, and it gets quite poignant. In my opinion, perhaps her best performance -- even in a formula melodrama. Without words, facial expression can speak reams.

She was an awesome sex symbol in her time, a la Marilyn Monroe. The next year, she was dead of, as I recall, kidney failure, at just 26 years of age. Her doctor had misdiagnosed her illness; but even if he'd known, there was no way her kidney failure could have been reversed.

Since childhood -- and among those who worked with her in movies -- she was ever known as "Baby."

But in the final analysis, there was only one Jean Harlow. Still yet, a silver-screen siren on the heels of Clara Bow.

She'd sizzled with Gable in "Red
    Dust," 1932, remade (with Gable)
    in the '50s as "Mogambo."

D'ya ever see an image and wish you could just sit down
with that fellow human being over coffee or tea and talk
a while? Gone too soon, there is MUCH we will never
know about Jean Harlow. Rest easy, "Baby.":(

I always liked the 60 Edsels but this photo doesn't look like anything I remembered. I did a search and found a couple of other photos of cars with the same grill and wonder if these could have been Canadian versions. Anyone know for sure?

I wondered the same thing and found this explanation:

    http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1950s-and-1960s-edsel-concept-cars2.htm

The cars in the photo were not production models. In 1960, only the Ranger line was actually produced and they had the split grille similar to the '59 Pontiac. The design shown was proposed for the never- produced Corsair line.

Would you happen to know if the markings on the upper walls of the small shack are American Indian? Gary

And also interesting is the absence of the XIT brand, unless it's on one of the other 2 sides and isn't visible.
