Well this is exactly why I asked for help. This is great stuff :)
I get what you mean regarding the styling, and I didn't reallise the proposed changes would clash being a decade apart.

I will have a look at the color chart you mentioned and report back.

What do you suggest for the wheels?

For the wheels, I'd stay with big wheelcovers. Everyone likes Caddy sombreros, and they would look good with your car. But if it were me, I'd look for something more unusual. Maybe late forties Chrysler. Packard hubcaps look good, too. Painted Chrysler wires look great, too, but they are pricey!

Ok i've been looking into scallops on my 47 plymouth coupe. I don't plan on chopping the top any time soon, but I'm interested in white walls. I would like to see some opinions from the experts I was thinking about a deep navy blue color when its in final paint. I'm planning on running bumpers and I need to put some of the stock front end trim back on. as you will see in the pictures I've been laying out some scalops in the style I'm thinking with some masking tape...but thats getting expensive. For now I'm planning on putting the scallops over the primer till I start the body work hopefully by spring. I'm planning on painting the scallops an off white color. If and when Its painted blue I don't know if I will ever add scallops...you can see my dilema...I need wheel ideas as well???

So there you have it yse some creative liscense!!! I even like gassers, NASCAR'S, shiner runners, etc.

I don't like any of those colors from the Packard chart unfortunately.

I'm still thinking about a dark green, maybe Pearl. And I think I'm going to go with 57 caddy hubcaps with a bullet in the centre.

Could some kind person mock this up for me please?

    Many thanks

Here's another color to look at. It's truer to a 40's custom.

OK here are some ideas for the front end. I started with a stock 1947 Plymouth I found on the 'net with a dead-on frontal view and the hood on!

The first photo is stock,, with the hood shaved and the bumpers removed.

The next is with the thin cross bars removed.

Last is with the top bar narrowed so the bars have a "waterfall" effect.

    More changes to come.

Here is the grille I really like - 1947 Packard.

The first photo is with the lower Plymouth bars in place.

    Then I went whole hog.
I transplanted the entire front chrome from the Pack to the Plym!

Since you have already filled in the front of your car, I think the slim
Packard grille by itself might be best. No more time tonight.

Wow Rot'n that was pretty badd ass...I liked the 2nd and the 3rd images the best...Those with the packard are badd ass for sure but I wanna go with a little more aggressive race type look for now. Those pacakard images are awesome though!

Behind this link is a highly off-topic station wagon I’m thinking about buying as a daily driver. I would absolutely love it if one of you talented HAMBsters would take a minute to repaint the woodgrain to some solid color for me - either a two-tone combination with the blue, or a solid, or change both colors if you’d like. My wife hates the artificial woodgrain, and I’m trying to envision what it might look like deleted.

I’d be interested to see how Astro Supremes might look, but that’s really secondary to the woodgrain.

Thank you in advance, I appreciate your efforts.

    Regards,

    Dave

Not a photoshop but here's a friend of mine's wagon. He painted it the brightest white he could find, got rid of all the woodgrain and painted candy red flake in it's place, and then striped it.

  20. How about this being black with gold belt lines or any other colors that will make it look cool. I am thinking a gold betalflake as the engine is gold and the inside in black with gold piping with a black and gold steering wheel.

One more request of the talented folks on this thread.

Can you put crager wheels on my hardtop. I want to see what the car would look like in a late 60/ early 70's lowrider vibe.. (might take it that way versus a 50's mild custom). feel free to lower it some to get the right look of that era..
