Hey all, so I need help installing the harmonic balancer on the 216 engine on my 50 Chevy. How do I do it? I know from taking it off that there are no threads, just the keyway. Im going to try a block of wood and a hammer. Is this the right way to do it?

When I installed mine I put it in the oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes. I still had to use a block of wood + hammer to drive it fully on but it was considerably easier than with the balancer cold.

That's the way they always did it.

  6. Maybe not do that when the wife is home, though.

BFH and a short 4x4 also worked for me.
