It's back! Can't get out of it, so I'm going in.
I picked up a donor 4 door sedan with a good chassis and hopefully a workable flathead drive train. I'm going to remove the sedan body and put the 3 window body on that chassis with the stock front clip. The 3 window has been chopped, channeled and sectioned so it's going to be interesting.

I don't know why but that front brings early fifties f-series to mind.

It actually looks like a fun project,.... Of course I'm on my 5th. cup of coffee right now. Kinda looks like they were going after that 1950 Ford Pick up look,.... Huh,.. never really liked them either. (But !,.. I think that ol' 3 winder has PLENTY of potential !)

Why not just transfer the front body work from the donor to your three window? Is the chassis junk?

Good karma on you for saving that nasty bastard. Is it going to stay chopped?

    Good luck, -Abone.

  13. That monstrosity is what happens when someone builds a "custom" without a vision, but with a shopping list of modifications. I've seen lots of lesser examples, but that face takes the cake! It should be the poster child for more restraint and a little forethought. I think that stock nose will help that poor thing immensely.
It should be a fun project. Good luck, and kept us up to date on your progress.

The more door looks pretty cool to me.. Why not just build it and wait for another front end for the coupe.....

Man I'm glad you're doing the 3W body right. That front end is like Bruce Lee's sister, Ug Lee. Are the wheelbases the same? Please excuse my ignorance, but it seems like the sedan might be longer. I can dig getting the old flattie to run. Subscribed.

I would not under any circumstance spoil the sedan to try and save that Mongrel....just junk the front sheet metal and trawl the ads for a set of panels to start making it look right..then get a frame and build it properly...you should be able to sell the sedan as is, and make enough to get the bits to sort out that fugly coupe.

I seen that 36 on ebay a few times and posted here a couple also. I even considered it for a couple minutes. I remember it was a good price and with a lot of work it should end up being a cool car. Good luck

The chassis under the 3 window is not a 35-40 Ford chassis.

The sedan body will NOT be touched. It's in very good shape and I don't want any part of cutting it up. I'm just taking the front clip, dash, chassis and drive train for the 3 window. I have a rough but workable 36 cowl that I will use to replace that awful split windshield with a stock tilt windshield. The sedan body will be sold or traded for parts.
