I'm guessing that the car came from Maryland. What a deal, I spent many sleepless nights with my finger on that buy in now button. Looks like you are doing one nice job. The Desoto grille is awesome.

  7. Isn't she dreamy!!!

Ah, yea about that.... I think I'm too late. The good news is Denver, CO is very dry, no humidity. So it hasn't really rusted, except where my sweaty legs touched it and where I touched it with my hands. Son of A B!#%$ ! I may have to take it back to the blaster for a fresh cleaning when I'm done with the welding and cutting and sanding. I'll do that different next time.

Thanks. With back to school and the HAMB drags, I haven't been to the garage in a week. I got the torque tube off and the drive shaft out. I'm making a plan on how to fix them with a 40 donor TQ Tube and DS.

Maryland, hummm, ok sounds good to me. Yea, I found this great program years ago called esnipe that will stay up late for me.... :)

Old Heart?! Really? You're what 35 ish? I hope that grille is "SO nice"!
We'll see how shipping treats it.

looks awesome, nads. the bluebird one must be narrowed and sectioned, no?

hopefully one will pop up someday that doesn't require selling a child to get.

I don't think so, it's been filled and flattened at the top and I think the horizontal bars are custom made. The whole grille is chromed from the factory and then the surround is masked and the rest painted body color.

They are rare, I fount mine on the HAMB.

    jeff,

not to derail this too much, but since mike's car had a swing pedal set up to begin with, did you ever get your ansen style set up sorted out? i think in my car, with the length of the y-block and truck bellhousing and t5, it will be impossible to mount a stock assembly.

so, inquiring minds want to know.

General.... if you are talking 'bout the Ansen pedal set up in 5 winder...we are about to tackle that issue in the next few weeks.I am running a Schroeder steering box with the Ansens.... It's gonna be tricky.I refuse to cut up the pedals to make it work.If thats the case.I may just buy wilwood pedals and Master to frankenstein....
I hope thats what your inquiring to....
    sorry for the hi-jack

yeah that's what i meant. i was just reading your thread from a year or so ago. i forgot for a second that you couldn't read my mind...

i am using an f100 box and column, so hopefully i won't have issues.

but i was really hoping to avoid a hydraulic clutch altogether.

  18. Looks like a slave cylinder. Hi Mike!

  19. Wow, you are old.

    Yep, I know!

I PM'd 56KUSTOM, he knows the guy that has the blue bird, I'm hoping the shell is still on the wall and I can get some measurements. We'll see. It looks sectioned both vertically and horizontally to me too.

    uh, de-railed

    Yea, what Mike said....

...its a slave cylinder, had a long rod going to the clutch arm. I think I'm going to use stock pedals with the equalizer shaft and put the master under the passenger side.

it is still on the wall somewhere, mike.

maybe it is just the horizontal bars that make it look sectioned. i dunno. measurements would be awesome.

  21. I've been working on the rear end, getting parts ready for re-assembly.

    Turning down the new bell

    Draining the sludge

    Cleaning that nasty grease out

The Lincoln driveshaft has a bigger shaft with more splines (left) then the standard 40 ford.

I drilled the welds so I could remove the center bearing.

...and because it wouldn't slide out the end I had to open it up.

I dropped off all the pieces at Englewood Driveshaft this morning and hope to have them back by the weekend.

Now I'm working on motor mounts.

I mocked the motor up about where it should be sitting. I didn't want to use the Hurst mount after I had it on. So I decided to use the factory Ford mounts & the factory 1957 Chevy mounts.

And this is what I came up with

sorry, i knew it was a slave cylinder but what kind of car did it come from? what trans was it being used with? how old is it? what kind of pedals was it used with? do you think it work at all? these are the things I'd like to know about. Also in the end I'd like to know how well it works. In the past I would of like to have used something like this but all I'm familiar with was modern Slave cylinder parts and they don't look good on old roadsters. Thanks Jared
