Hey There, On the first of September I'll fly over to the states for a little road trip. We'll start in Phoenix AZ. and will head north to San Fransisco. The purpose of this thread is that I would like to know about some crazy carshows (large or small). Nice car/vintage shops or any other non tourist spot that I should visit. I am from the Netherlands so visiting is quiet rare for me. This would be a great opportunity for me to finally see some real cars. Hope for a lot of responses. Thnx
I think that your best bet is to post your proposed route and dates so that folks can give you specifics and maybe even give you a guided tour. It doesn't sound that you will be in my area or I'd volunteer myself.
Riverside hotel in Laughlin nev,Peterson museum in LA,NHRA in Pomona,Justice Bros in SanDimas,SurfCity in Huntington Beach just so much to see & so little time.
If you have any old Street Rodder magazines, check out some of the road tours to the Nationals. They usually have some neat stops. Good luck, and have fun.
Delgadilla's Snow Cap in northern Az. is worth stopping at for lunch. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/101?offset=10 Other interesting things to see are at Roadside America's website.
When in San Francisco you might want to stop and Visit Alex Gambino. He's been a gracious host to many of us.
when will you be in San Jose? the first weekend of sept they have the primer nationals in Ventura. we are heading to that one
Thnx for all the tips. We;ll probably go to the Rockabilly car show in douglas. Here is our travel schedule which is offcourse adjustable since it's a roadtrip and not a business meeting. 1 - 3 sept - Phoenix, 4-6 - Grand canyon & Las Vegas 7-10 Salton City & LA 11-13 - up to San Fran I know we're short of time but it's better than missing it all. Shops, old skool dinners, shows any thing a normal tourist will miss is welcome! Thanks Joey
Hey Joey, If you're gonna be in southern Az, this might be worth checking out. http://www.theshadydell.com/
Oatman AZ is always fun to go to. One of our many lively ghost towns with decendants of the miner burros still wandering around town. My other vote goes for driving as much of coastal Highway 1 as possible in the time you are here. I can't really recomend any show in AZ right now, because we are still in our shut down season for the summer. We don't have much of anything going again untill October. If you need any thing while your in Phoenix, don't hesitate to give me call at the number on my signature line.
The great labor day cruise at the orange county fair grounds in california is always a great weekend.
Stopped there on the way back from the LA Roadster show last June. Definatly worth the side trip off the I-40.
Thanks a lot guys these are all really good recommendations! Hopefully we will be able to go over to the rockabilly car show in douglas
