This is a little late, but got a new camera and still sorting it out. Me and my son left Omaha Wed 8/10 to celebrate his graduating college (in a not so HAMB friendly late model Vette) Just 2 guys hittin the road. WE drove straight through to Vegas (19 hrs) Spent a day and a half there in awe (my 1st time to Vegas) drinking, eating and checking out the Casinos. Left Vegas Saturday and headed to Huntington Beach Ca. My favorite place on earth. We stayed 5 days at the Surf Inn on the PCH just a couple blocks from the pier. A super cool old Surf Motel with only 9 rooms and an incredible view of the Ocean and beach. Soaked up as much of So. Cal as we could hanging out on the beach and in the surf, walking around and eating every nite in the HB community. (Sharkeez and the Longboard 2 of my favorite) It's so hard for me to explain how cool this area is. Took a short boat ride to Catalina Island for a day, where we tasted some of the local island concoctions, went snorkeling, and relaxed on the beach and one day was spent at Magic Mountain riding some of the craziest roller coasters I've ever seen. Too soon it was time to put Huntington Beach in the rear view mirror and head to Joplin for the drags. We went through the Hoover Dam State park area and checked out the Dam and new bridge and then just worked our way across the southwest to Joplin. Rolled in around 2pm Friday and hit the pool at the Holiday Inn with cooler in tow and waited for the rest of the Omaha crew to arrive and everyone else from the swap. Typical friday nite drinking to much, staying up to late and getting up early to hit Ryno's donut party (Ryno thanks for everything, your one of the good ones) I've been to 6 Drags and thought this year had some of the best racing yet. Thanks Ryan and Co. Saturday nite I was drained from the heat and went in a little early. Sunday we met up with the rest of the Omaha crew and headed back the short 6 hour drive to Omaha. It was great seeing everyone and can't wait till next year. This was the roadtrip of a lifetime for me. 12 days on the road (with my best friend and son) no agenda. Just go untill we wanted to stop. We had a blast. The first pic's are on the road pre-joplin, then some of the drags and the last one of the Vette at home after clicking off 3800 miles on the odometer @ 29-30 mpg. I'm all about driving old cars, but a late model Vette is the best car I've ever had on the road. Gary
