Customs 1954 chevy ready for paint?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dirtbag54, Aug 27, 2011.

  1. I'm ready for real paint. I'm over the black primer, the sun has taken it's toll on it. Was thinking gloss black enamel or maybe another color? Need help.....[IMG]

    That doesn't look like primer.

  4. Keep silver flake roof, just repaint the rest. The primer looks different because I wet sanded and buffed it. That's right I just said that.

  5. haha thats kinda cool, never thought to wetsand and buff primer... gloss black would be real nice on that car, i think. your interior is black right?

dark gray would go really good with the light gray/silver roof, i think
and rims in that same silver flake, too, where they are red at this moment

Everyone needs to get over suede black... Dig the flaked roof, doesn't really jive with all the rockabilly esque pinstripping. Since your roof is calling out more late 50's early 60's steez with the flaked top, take the body in that direction. Study some little books and make the whole car cohesive. Larry Watson is God and don't be afraid of color.

Larry Watson small books. Got it

  21. Candy Wild Cherry. HOK color, maybe? If you don't mind a multi stage paint, Lexus has a beautiful mandarin red candy color.

  22. Thanks chil Phil sounds cool also

Im thinking Black since your interior is already black and white, whatever you do, keep the silver flake roof!!! I'm diggin' it!

  24. Yeah the roof stays. I even considered putting thin scallops over it.

They're called "bloomers" - they were a dealer accessory (like the ones I have) or an aftermarket accessory. They meet with the back edge of the fender swoop and continue it back to the rear bumper.
Look great on the right car. There are repos but I have heard that they are not as nice as the genuine oldies. Like a a lot of other things, I suppose.
