Who's working hard, and planing on going to the Turkey Run. November 24-27, 2011 ? If your going, how far is your drive ? Finally closing up, and getting the toy's home, to NBS Florida Everything in Michigan, will be done and looking forward to getting the Divco to the show. Retired and busy more then ever, love it. Can't sleep in, still getting up at 7:30 am.
I went every year for about 20 years. I went back when it was held at the High School parking lot. The wife and I stayed at the motel beside the La Playa ... directly accross from the Bel-Air Plaza. The last couple times, I just hung around the Bel-Air Plaza and did not go to the speedway. I quit going at all about 2005 or 2006. Last year ( 2010 ) the wife decided we were GOING. It was OK ... but I will not be going this year. Too many late model, everyday type drivers in the show field. Walk past 20/30 cars to see one HOT ROD that catches my interest. The swap meet is still pretty good but ... I do not need anything Hope those who do go Have a GREAT time !!
We have missed very few in the past 30 years, and will be going again this year. Still have some work to do to make sure all three cars go, but we have time. For us, the swap meet area is the draw, as well as the action on AIA at night and BelAire Plaza. Seeing old friends from the forums is always cool too. Don
I did notice some late model daily drivers in there last year which I thought was odd, they might have been doing it for some time but last year was the first time I entered a car unlike years past where I just went to the swap meet and just looked at the cars that showed up at the BelAire plaza.
some of my friends have found if you have a dd that is in the 60s you can get in ,and for them its a benefit. will be there for a week from mid ga about 375 miles away.
Me and the pops will be there with the boy (likly bring out baby Emma on her maiden voyage into the big assed event....look for the 37 ford convert stroller with the most beutiful blue eyed girl in the drivers seat)....only bout 50ish miles for us (though pop is flying in from NM and Pop-in-law from AZ)
I wonder if there is any possibility of getting a bigger HAMB parking area? It fills up pretty fast and is a really nice area........paved and all that jazz. As many members as the HAMB has I bet a lot of us would love to be able to park there. Don
Just like last year, I'm taking the Rivi, hopefully this year it will go all the way with me, last year left me stranded in Plant City, I think all the gremlins are chased away and I'm not waiting to the last minute like the previous year, is anyone from SW FL meeting up to head there on Thursday? If so I would like to tag along (strength in numbers), it would be cool to get a bigger area for the HAMBers, the last couple of years we got there on Friday afternoon and it's been full.
I plan to go that Saturday, but I'll be wandering the swap meet....going to leave the Bel Air at home.
Will be parked in the infield right at turn 4 and the tunnel. Come look for me and the other Salvagerz and say hey!
Driving the 52 Chebby conv. down from snowy cold Wisconsin, will be there with Salt Flat Matt and Jeff J. BB
Goggle earth say it is 1,396 miles from Antigo Wi to Daytona Beach Fl. That's a bit of a hike in as much as we will prolly have 2 feet of snow on the ground when I leave. BB
I'll be there, it's in my back yard. 25 miles. Hope to drive the '50 Fleetline. The throw out bearing went out last year stuck in traffic.
