They have been working on that for many years and it's great to see it become a reality.

Actually, for the speed I thought it was a lot smoother than I was expecting. I have seen scarier rides in a 1/4 mile!!!

Had to watch it 5 times as the first time my eyes kept gravitating toward the cockpit view, so 4 more....once for each view, and those were definitely better seats than the ones we had at the 4.5 mile mark, but only a little better:D Thanks for the link.

I remember Ron Main running that beast as "Flatfire", with the worlds fastest Flathead. Then later when he teamed up with G.M. and they put an ecotec 4 cyl. in it. He predicted the car was easily capable of over 400MPH. Damn was he right.

I assume that the push trucks take off as fast as they can to chase the car to be there for the recovery. I'd be curious to know the maximum speed the trucks reached on their chase and how long they held it for.

WOW! Congratulations on a great run, thanks for taking us along.

  16. you have to slow down to 25mph in front of the pits then you can speed up again, but 50 or 60 is about tops. You are driving on the return road, not the track.

  17. More than awsome for sure. I had to rewind it a bit to check and I was correct it was a good thing he had a backup shoot. The first shoot failed, scary.

Relentless acceleration - awsome to watch the speed climb. Amazingly boring in a way - I'm sure that's how the team likes it.

Just amazing how quickly it gathers speed. Watching that my hands got sweaty and i forgot to breath! You've got to have big balls to drive something like that! Thanks for posting some awesome video there.

Phew, need a cup of tea after that!

Just looked around on their website, that was 426MPH powered by a 4Banger, that is even more impressive!

Awesome stuff. Side note, I drove through the same salt they did yesterday. Back at home the boys were washing all the rigs down making a salt water creek up the street from my shop! Speed Demon looks like a cruise missile sitting out on the street! Pretty cool.

What amazes me is that he takes off at about the 2:00 minute mark in the video and at 3:18 he is at 426MPH:eek::eek::eek:.

I'm pretty sure they've been running a Duttweiler built Chevy V8's and not a banger. The banger program was a few years ago.

  30. Yeah but the morning run Saturday sounded like they were shootin ducks with that V8...........kinda like a badass 4 banger:eek:
