Been dreamin' of a tri-five for a while. I traded my 70 Buick GS455 even-up for this 56. 235 with 3 speed. She came from California and has a good solid body.
Was it in California back in the day or a few months ago? There was one just like that for sale at a tow yard in town a few months back. Great car
Brings back memories in the mid 60's doing V8 swaps on those; looking for the V8 radiator supports, front engine mounts, and V8 firewall mount throttle levers I did my first V8 tri-5 swap on a 56 BA 2dr ht that was a six stick. Swapped in a 58 283 and then a 348 tripower. Parts cars were easy to find back then.
Thinking maybe a T5 swap and add more ponies to the 6, drive it for a while, then swap in a traditional V8.
Reminds me of a friends old 150 back in the late 60s.He had a 425 horse 409 and 4 speed in it. You made a good choice.
He traded a 455 GS for it. Somehow I don't think the 6 banger and 3 speed are gonna cut it. It at least needs a screamin'327 and M22!
wow, cool car. lower it and throw some spider caps on it! i usually don't like 56's as much, but it's because of the downward swooping trim on the rears. the 150's like yours look the best in my opinion because they don't have it. i love that it's one color too. very cool car, enjoy it!
Another thumbs up here. You've picked the best of the Tri-Fives...the 56 is my favorite! Cheers, and good luck with her.
Congrads on getting a rare '56 150 "Business Man's Coupe." Owned one several years. Rear windows don't go down, no back seat, forward running body trim, very light.
Thanks for the comments guys. I have been driving this to work this week, 60 miles round-trip. Lots of thumbs up and smiles.
Interesting to see where that 56 went...I saw it everytime I'd go to New Metal Kustomz in Cotati, where my son Marcus works. It sat at Andriotti's tow yard. Should make a nice car...Good luck with it, and have fun!
Great looking car! Congrats on your trade. I never used to care for the 56 model year but it has grown into a favorite in later years! You might check out chevytalk.com. The guys over there have been very helpful regarding parts and certain details. Happy Motoring in your new ride!
That's it. I'm selling all I have and getting a Tri-Five. I've been a closet admirer LONG ENOUGH! Time to live La Vida de Cincuenta y Siete!
