Good point about how the NDRA started, push start, direct drive,no burnout, 150" wheelbase max. The other rule was 10 psi minimum rear tire pressure that only lasted one or two races. I know as I was one of the first four drivers to compete in the new Top Eliminator class at Fremont in may of 1986. The others were Jim Davis,Sammy Hale, Pierre Poncia. There was no requirement of a competition license and it was my first time in blown dragster. Gerry Steiner and Sammy were gracious enough to give me driving lessons. Great looking and sounding car Brian, it takes me back 25 years.

  3. Baby steps! Tire spinning, dragster baby steps... but you're getting there. You are awesome motivation, keep after it!

Someone took a pic of Brians Riviera and dragster on the trailer outside of Outback steak house and posted it here on the board. I'll be damned if I can find it. If someone see it please post a link to it thanks. Todd

Thanks Brian, no problem at all. We had a great time hanging out with you guys. Bigun and Corey are great guys. Leon and I are headed to Cordova thursday to work on an A/F car and see some old friends. The world series is a blast too. But the HAMB drags always take me back to a simpler time. Keep after that thing your getting the feel of the car. I think next year is really gonna be a great one also. :) Lippy

As someone who did this stuff back then, your pass sounded and looked just right...we had no clue, and without the slipper clutch we pedaled it, off and on, particularly if it got sideways, and with a 120 wb car it got sideways a lot...your pass took me back to San Gabriel, San Fernando, Lions, Colton, where I did lots of passes just like yours...and your car is perfect, swoopy body, Hilborn 2-holer...THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!

Gotta be tough to find that delicate balance between tire, clutch & POWER.

    Control is a BIG word.

    Your display was HEROIC!

    Ruler.

  18. You got it nailed dude, just keep workin on it. I know the deal about seat time, it sucks when you only have a certain amount of time and tracks that actually let us ran. Same deal with me in a dirt car or anything else. Need to make it out to your shop sometime soon, it would be a good research and theory session (beer drinking). I still like this picture i took after i got out of your push car a few years ago when i hopped in the front seat. My favorite part of these old cars is seein it sittin there steamin and coolin down on the return road.

that things got 170 in it EASY. And youre doing it the right way by creepin up on it rather than going out and trying to kill yourself the first pass. Were in the same boat, see ya soon.
