Crossovers are often interesting, where things that are usually very different flow into one another. This thread is about rods that are actually customs, that is to say customs based on "thin-fendered" or early-post-Vintage cars.

Here's a '33/'34 courtesy of Rikster, from the 1940's period correct customs thread:

I know that there are others, '32s, even Model As. Let's see what we can find.

Here is a pic of a car I took in the 90`s that is dying for skirts and a slight lowering in the rear. I think it`s from Colorado.

Interesting. I hadn't seen that one before. Very much my sorts of themes, though. I'd have done much of it differently (but I suppose that goes for all of us :D) In particular I'd have avoided shoving the grille out over the front axle line at all costs.

Here's one from the 1957 Hot Rod Annual. It's made from a '33 Ford sedan. Pre-'34 customs seem to be rare. I think this one qualifies.

Some of them are a bit hard to qualify as Custom Cars... but they sure are more customized than Hot Rodded.

Here's Lil' Coffin, plus another pre-34 custom whose name I can't remember.

This was a 33-34 Ford roadster and heavily modified way back. All steel and lead.

I wonder if that is the same car as in Post #1. Note the bumper, headlights, and DuVall screen. Only the colour is different.

As an outsider I feel this era is the untapped or maybe less represented in todays custom world .... I would like to see more , but the most I've seen are on Riksters site . ( Thanks Rik ! )

Those 2 pictures are of the same car if I'm not mistaken. The red picture is of the later version of the nose.
