just picked this up, pretty cheap i think. in the same family since 53, car runs and drives, brakes are moosh, but came with new master and wheel cylinders, some other parts. quarters and trunk are rotted, but frame is solid. not perfect, which is what i wanted, so i dont hesitate to cut it up drive it. stay tuned for updates.
thanks guys! dont have any specific plans right now, but first order of business is making it safe. change all fluilds, get brakes working etc. summer is almost over, so id like to enjoy it for a few weeks, then over winter do somethings to make it drive better. t5, f body rear, front disc brakes etc. plan to keep the 235 or at least a 6, fenton headers, dual carb etc. the white walls on it are brand new, so looking for some chrome steels to put them on. what fluids does this thing run? straight 30 in the engine? what about trans and diff?
no pics, but took this thing for its first ride today. fixed the leaky left rear wheel cylinder, and freed up the stuck r/f wheel, flushed/ bled the brakes, and took it down the road. also found that the brake switch was unplugged for some reason, and thats why the brake lights werent working. hooked it back up, and its all good. gonna reg it tomorrow and see how it is on the open road around town.
Spent many hours riding in the back seat of one of those, my granddad's. Identical to yours, including the color, except is was a four door. I still remember how smooth and powerful that six was...
well got it registered. went to take it for a ride and it stalled out while warming up. looked at the glass bowl and it was brown. was gonna take it straight to the gas station to fill it up, was showing 1/4 tank, now it shows full? gonna suck all the gas out and pump some clean gas through the lines, once this hurrican bs passes. picked up a glass pack, some new rad hoses, and 3inch lowering blocks for the rear.
