  6. Great FAS already.....every one of you gets a gold star! I especially like the '57 mid-engined pickup, Gary. And, of course, BoMonster is my hero. :D

  7. That is a car that needs to be built.. that blue 351 shoe.

  8. Hope to get involved before the day is done but in the mean time:

    Greta show so far...

Bo, love it. That's a lot of scratching but the pay off is worth it.
Bob, very nice imagery. Reminds me of watching Griffith Park burn from my office years back.
Gary C. that blue truck is insane, what a cool concept. The red one is deftly handled and deadly cool!
Zombie, HEY, this aint no muscle car forum boy! Speaking of deadly cool... I must repeat...
    "Klunk!" had a 'Cuda V-8!
    Jimmy B., that's a beaute!
Lemorris, can't get enough of this one.
    Buick59, amazing work.
Spoggie, i like it. I like it a lot. (That was a great finish. glad they walked away form it.)
    N.Ozols, really like this, too.
    aceuh, nice snaps.
Jeff A.; great great work, ALL, bud, that shoe box is too cool.
JohnnyJ., the color work looks good, I like the change up in your palette on this one.
Chad, What can I say, the Chevy looks great but the ink on that second one is truly fantastic.
Jen, I don't know how ya do it but I sure am glad you do what you do. Great stuff.
anyone I missed, so far, thanks for contributing your talent to the coolest art show on the web.

    ....I'll be back...

I like it. Very cool. Just made myself a chalkboard for a "to do" list in garage with chalkboard paint. Am thinking of doing same thing you did for a sign also.

  13. Sorry to be the big bad HAMBster CapnHooks- It's slaps on the back for '64 & earlier HOT rodding, a slap on the wrist for post '64 1/2 stuff..
..Guess that makes me hypocrite of the week for mentioning Marcus Ambrose kickin' butt at Watkins Glen..;)
Thanks Jigger; That's unforgettable race footage - a brutal last lap. A great example of how to win, with superior car control via masterful braking.

This pinup I did for Greaserama 2011 has been changed around a bit in photoshop. Moved the calendar to the left side and changed a couple lines in the poem to refer to the space theme. The Day The Earth Stood Still was released on September 28, 1951 so the 28 is circled on the calendar.

The gasser is drawn in pencil on an old Roco Oil daily sales sheet that measures about 17 x 9.

Terrific work everyone. Can't tell you how jealous I am seeing all the Bonneville photos lately. I've had a busy few weekends - and one of them was spent at the Hotrod Hayride. Really enjoyed myself - very friendly crowd and loads of fun stuff to draw. Here's a one off special built out of the most unlikely collection of parts...

The car at the bottom of this page is one of my favourites - turns out it lives not far from me and I have an invitation to do some more sketches of it...

Loved the stance of the pickup...

... and the proportions of this...

Some interesting midget racers there too...

Last of all here's a page of thumbnails which I've made into a print...

I also attended a Vintage event and saw this Model T based car - put together by the designer of the McLaren F1...

This one's not really a hotrod but it is fantastic - cyclecar chassis and a nice chunky aero engine, brilliant...

There are a few more sketches from both events on the blog&flickr and I'm hoping to get the photos up soon too. Hope you like them.

  20. 1320 Paul, your stuff is 100% HAMB. The first one's kinda scary- the 2nd. one (554) is some of the very best tone & line drawing I've seen here. Perfect, awesome skill..
Stefan, everyone loves the spiritual rightness of your work..:)

Allison, and Stefan... Bookends of awesome this week.

here's a "what if" that i sketches after seeing a found "custom bodied" rod that a HAMBer unearthed. I wasn't crazy about the car, but the general proportions of it had a very early euro look... so i played with it. ;)

    The original car:

Love that Metro. Did you come up with that, or is it based on a real car? It looks like what I often fantasized about doing to my '93 Escort hatchback.

That is a gorgeous photo. It makes me want a ‘58 Mercury.
