I spent a lot of hours on one of those when I was a kid! They were real wheelie machines.......... they had a basic forward-neutral-reverse tranny. Wide open throttle in reverse then jam it into forward and if you did it just right it would almost stand straight up and down. Dad just thought the trannies were weak, he stated buying every used one he could find for the transmission...... he never caught on.

Nope, nope, DIVA is what they call that. I always liked Lauren Hutton. She grew up with a little gap beteen her two front teeth, and she was an extremely successful model (and actress), though she never hid what God gave her.

Any Lauren Hutton pix out there, HAMBers?

JalopyJunkie, HOLY, er, SMOKE! You just posted one of the MOST
impressive series I have seen on Dog's great thread. TOO many to
cite, so I'll just show the random stand-outs. THANK YOU, man. :p

I won't even comment on these, as I feel they speak for themselves,
    as great photos do.

The photo brings back many Memories. The photo of the bike messengers. My first part time/full time job was delivering telegrams in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I started delivering for CN Telecommunications in 66 and held the job until 68 when they abolished the job. I made the princely sum of $1.00 an hour. I did it part time in the school months and full time in the summer. I had a Raleigh 3 speed bike that was indestructible. many memories loved every minute

    WE have a winner!
    Yes, good old Uncle Ted.

Nowadays he dresses in a Camoflage outfit.
At 63 years old, he still rocks, and puts on one great show.

Saw him at a free concert in Artpark in Lewiston NY on Tuersday.
    Great show.
I remember the Amboy Dukes, even bought their albums "back in the day".

    He stated at the concert.
Clean and Sober for 63 years.

  17. Thanks to all for the great pictures from yesteryear! I think I've seen all or most of them since this thread started & have posted a few too.

Something I remember from years ago was going to the 'pizza parlor' & watching the guy twirl the dough until it was right size shape for crust. There was a display window & picnic tables for customers to watch the show! Kids in cars would congregate; me being too young to drive, would get with buddies and either ride our bikes or horses (quite a few of us had 'em back then) to watch him twirl and form the raw pizza crust. Sometimes he'd toss a piece of dough out for my horse, he loved it!

Does anyone else remember - or better yet - have pictures of the 'pizza twirlers'?

I don't much care to the term FAN, but I really like the Nuge. Amazing that a rocker going back to '64 could still have the staying power he does. Maybe the reason is that he's no G-D airhead. (But, like others who snickered here, I never believed his contention about "Center of a Mind." :p

    But, hell, NObody's perfect!:rolleyes::eek:

Crackheads, beware! DO NOT break into Ted Nugent's house!
HAMBers may like this interview with him. Hopefully, the link's
still good. But it's within the past decade, I think, so I don't think
it qualifies a vintage material, just revealing about Ted, the man.

Okay, you wondered where David Lee Roth got ideas for his own stage persona?

Ted Nugent is SO atypical of the stereotype most anyone holds of a hard-rocker! And That's why I find him so interesting. Here's a guy who started the Amboy Dukes in '64:cool:, generally credited as one of the seminal bands of hard rock, acid rock and psychedelic rock. Wow. Notable chart tunes: "Journey to the Center of the Mind" and "Cat Scratch Fever" (note his lead guitar on both of those!:p). Among his nicknames, he's been called the Motown Madman for his stage antics and driving guitar riffs. He's done 6,000 live concerts and shows no particular signs of letting up.

THIS is not the kind of guy you'd expect to have a brain, strong political views and a big, socially conscious heart! Briefly, "The Nuge" is noted for his vocal conservative political views and his ardent defense of hunting, conservation, unrestricted gun-ownership and self-defense, and anti-drug/alcohol abuse activism. Nugent has been cited as an important early influence on the "Straight Edge" movement, which disavows drinking and recreational drug use. He is a national spokesman for the DARE program, advocating the "natural highs" to be found in an outdoor lifestyle. He has hosted the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids, which combines a curriculum of hands-on hunting, conservation, archery and a strong anti-drug message aimed mainly at underprivileged inner-city children. Nugent also is a spokesman for MADD and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. As an advocate of hunting and gun-ownership rights, Nugent currently serves on the Board of Directors of the NRA.

If Ted Nugent is a rocker, maybe America NEEDS more rockers?

Nice shot of an early 50's rigid frame Harley. I had one in the 70's but it was "modified"

Greetings everyone. This is my first post and I just wanted to say this thread is simply amazing. And Its the reason I Registered to thank everyone that has added to it. I came across a qoute many years ago

~ We die twice; the first time when our hearts cease to beat; the second time when our stories cease to be told ~

Passing on these photos is like sharing those stories I hope you keep the thread going and I plan on adding a few to it myself.

  27. I think maybe some of Teds Michigan Madman nickname came from his rumoured driving antics too. :D
