Quick question for anyone. I know some Chev and Pontiac parts are interchangeable, my question is will a 49 chevy coupe front and rear bumper fit on a 49 Pontiac coupe?

Im going to do the opposite and put 49 Pontiac bumpers on my 49 Fleetline. I laid them on top of each other and the brckets are different. The frame on the Pontic are much bigger. The bumpers are the right width your just going to have to make some changes to the brackets for the to work.

jamcoupe, what front wheel openings do you have grafted to your front fenders? Did you also graft a lip to your fender skirts? If so, what were they off of? Thanks

Thanks for all the pics posted on this thread.
The HAMB is starting to wake a real fondness for the late 40's and early 50's cars.
    Keep 'em comin'
    Cheers.

Me too. Years ago I had a '50 Fleetline Deluxe and a '49 2 door Coupe...awesome body style. Wish I had never let either of them go.

Check this shit out. I started this thread in 2009 and here we are in 2022 and I managed to find myself a coupe so I can, after all this time, participate in my own thread.
Picked it up a couple months back and got it on the road after a 12+ year slumber. Brakes, fuel system etc didn't take a hell of a lot. Drove it stock for a while to see what it may end up needing. Have a basket case of a '53 at the farm I'd already rebuilt the front suspension for so I used that and took a couple weekends and got the '52 lowered. 4.5" up front (mix of springs, dropped A arms and the '53 uprights) and 3" blocks out back. Nose-down rake heavily inspired by @Bullet Nose old fleetline. Not feeling the visor with the front-heavy look, probably take that off here in the next little while. Need better caps and I'm all set for the time being.
Plans are to swap the stock powerglide and rear diff with a matching pair from a '57 to do away with the torque tube rear setup. Have another 235 waiting in the wings that'd going to get duals and headers etc.

Anyways, that's enough yapping here's some before and after action:

  30. @Old-Soul That looks like a really clean coupe!

The lowering job was perfect! I agree, would like to see it without the visor.
    What a cool cruiser...
