    Thanks everyone for the comments!

We'll see how this one ends up then we'll talk price! ;)

  3. Looking good man! I like the chopped box picture inspiration hanging up on your wall. You'll need those more once you get into all the little corners and finish work.

Nice work and the profile of the roof looks really good. You have probably already seen this but on the off chance you havnt it is one of the most first class chops in both look and execution I have ever seen. There is also alot of detail including measurments and also shows the bracing of the rear window as mentioned earlier. Love these chop threads, keep up the good work!

I get it....instead of a Bull Nose...your going to have Bull Horns..! Did you ever think of frenching in a 49-50 Merc grille shell and mount them there...?

Finished the driver side door the other day. What a task. Moving onto the passenger side which I found out doesn't have the same gap as the driver side and isn't closing correctly. Going to be a involved process.

Door #2 done. That was a B__ch. Had Petejoe comes over and did some "fine tweaking" with a BFH and now it's fiting like a glove!

Now it's on to the back window! Still debating in my head over which way to do it. Feel free to chime on one these two processes:

    The Chris Casny way:

    Or this way:

chop is coming out very good, very tasteful and not over the top.

Cant wait to see more progress, seems like youre off to a good start.

I like the idea of a 49-50 merc grille opening :)

Yeah, the fact that you can actually stand in the trunk means you started with more than what I did :O

Your post is gone Chris? Thanks for Chiming in though! Unfortunately, in my haste last night I got too excited and went ahead with the other direction. I don't like how it turned out. I'm not even sure how in the world he got his corners to mold correctly into a good slope. In any case I can still save my work on top. The piece is still good to go. Like Chris said I'm going to cut more away and make a bigger formed corner piece.

    As is:

What needs to be cut away:

Looks great! You did a good job fitting the doors in place. Thats a Hard job and the fit is nearly perfect! Now its english wheel time.
I'm kinda leaning to a merc grille in that too.

Decided that handles, key holes, and gas doors are over-rated.... :)

Started the back "sails" for the C pillars this past weekend.

Mocked up the curve and slope with tape. Glad I did this. Really gave me a good idea of what I need:

    Then I made the template:

    And cut it out:

Then after a good couple hours on the English wheel I got her to fit in place:

Not too bad if I say so myself for being the first time to ever form/mold/shape a piece of metal into a body panel!

and started forming on the right.

Formed the piece alot quicker this time. Don't know if that's because i knew what i was doing or getting lazy with my slopes!

Broke down the 390 Caddy last week for an inspection and block test...

By the way, I might be starting another thread about this but if anyone has any information on where I can find some mounts and/or tranny adaptor to fit this onto the original 3 speed please let me know!! I know that this was everyday swap back in the day so some information has to be out there.

Started back on body work. Sanding off the endless amount of filler that was on it along with my patches.

    Hey Matt!

Car looks great. Now that I know you're related to PeteJoe that changes EVERYTHING! :) I'm sure we have met and or talked. Rick would know me as Willy. Bill , Willy it don't matter.

    Later,Bill
