Really productive weekend on the "project."

Everything is sitting where it needs to be, just steering and exhaust to go before firing her up. check out this pic...

You mean nice ROADSTER... it looks bad ass dude.

  4. The year I chopped my coupe's lid, I lived in a duplex "compound"... a Model A restorer lived a few houses down, and would come by and chat about Model A's. He was "ok" with me building it into a hot rod "as long as you don't chop it up!"...

So, the day I finally laid the tape on here and carefully cut the roof off... he came driving by... "You RUINED it!!!"

My response was "only if I don't weld it back on!" :D

    Sam.

Is that the really nice coupe body from the other post that people were begging you not to cut?

If so, it took some balls! Did I happen to mention I could REALLY use a good 5 window roof?:D (seriously)

Don't think Jason can decide if he wants stanchions, duvall style or do something with the coupe windshield frame. What's everybody think? Jason, where the hell are you?

Was talking to my girlfriends pops last night. He's 67 I think.

He said that back in his day guys would pick those up for $50-100. Hack the tops off and drive em til they killed em. Leave em on the side of the road and do it all over again.

If you didn't cut the roof off you were a pussy. Haaa.

Was a great throwback conversation. Cool as dude. Truck driver....still. Over 3 million accident free miles.

    LOL

These cars get built to attract attention, you gotta know it's not all gonna be positive. :D

The rest of this thread has me cracked up too. Roof vultures.. indecisive builders (a little late in the game to be coming up with plans?).. haters.. this one's got em all, after about ten posts. :D

    No chop involved here folks...

If we cut the roof off to chop, we would have left the area above the belt line....

It's amazing what you can do with photoshop.

Definitely keep the coupe windshield frame and A pillars - that's the only way you're going to be able to keep running the visor!

  16. I thought I was getting the roof to use as a koi pond in my soon to be started tiki garden? What the hell?!

Last I heard from Jason before driving home Sunday afternoon, he had an idea for a windshield using curved windshield glass from a Super Beetle recessed into the cowl with a polished brass frame. It's gonna look cool once he polishes the rest of the brass pieces on the car.

Take the cut off top, mount it to a go-cart and have a coupe lower than the coupe V8 built!!!! You can sit in the cloth top opening.

I'm happy as can be that you cut the top off.
Now "get it done" (sounds just like a red neck doesn't it?) and
drive it up to Ben D's. You know what day.
    Looks good man.........later,
