Well, I'm stuck in a company truck most of the time, but if you look to the left you'll see what I run the bills around town, and pick up carry out food with ( it currently smells like Godfather's pizza inside )..... I do have a late model Avalanche in the driveway for the summer camping trips and winter hunting trips though. I am also seriously considering buying a 1959 GMC fleet option truck for a beater.

[QUOTE I also like how most of the approved rides are in cali, NM, NV, TN, SC, FL in the warm sunshine states! (with a couple of hard core northerners in there). Come on up here for a winter and see how those ride fare!:D[/QUOTE]

thats why i live in the south so i can drive my hotrod everyday.

    OT. 1971 Ford Capri, 2.6L V6, 4 speed, no A/C.

It just sold though, so I guess my daily driver would be my bicycle... oh wait, I don't have a bicycle.

  13. Funny that this thread popped up. I'm planning on selling my OT Nissan pickup to buy an old truck to drive daily. I've got a line on a 41 Ford, but I'd feel pretty bad about driving it in the snow and salt. I've been looking high and low for a 51 or 52 F1 as well. Whatever I get, I'd set it up with a small modern V8 and auto overdrive, heat and AC. That's about it, no lowering, no fancy paint, wheels, etc.

Question – do you think the frame on the 41 would be suitable for occasionally towing a car trailer and car that would weigh maybe 5,000 pounds? I know they're the same as 35 to 40 car frames and that concerns me a little. That and the transverse springs.

My Daily Driver accept in the winter or rain and here in Texas there isn't any rain and winter lasts a couple weeks. A/C and Heat and a big honkin thumping sound system for this old man to listen to Junior Brown, Floyd and some Robert Cray Blues.

Here's my daily driver, on a recent "return trip" from Lake Charles, LA. I bought it May 5, and have rolled over 6,000 miles since then.

When I don't feel like driving the '37, I am in my '40.

    I wouldn't go as far as to describe it as a "daily" as I don't have to go out every day. But when I do go out, come rain or shine you will only ever find me in one vehicle;

It's kind of hard to pin down which vehicle is my daily, I insure eight vehicles.
    1994 Lincoln Mark VIII
    1996 Subaru Legacy L
    1990 Jeep Cherokee
    1986 Ford F250
    1984 Chrysler Fifth Avenue
    1972 Ford F350
    1969 Lincoln Continental
    1941 Chevy

My wife only drives the Chrysler or the Subaru.

My daughter only drove the Subaru until it broke. Now she drives my Mark VIII most of the time. If she goes anywhere at night she drives the Chrysler. I'll have to fix the Subaru soon, at my place if I don't fix it it stays broke.

That leaves me with the what is my daily driver question, HUMM?
I never drove the Mark VIII enough to call it a daily even before my daughter started driving it. I only drove it as an occasional summer use only car. The 86 F250 has been a summer daily truck in the past but it hasn't been off the place since last fall. It's geared so low it is kind of a pain to drive very far. I'm planning on putting some higher gears in it later this summer. I will be driving it tomorrow for it's maiden summer drive this year. The Jeep is my winter daily but I want to save it for winter. I drive the 72 F350 for a lot of farm related trips, it's a real truck with a 17.5 foot bed and it wouldn't be a practical daily. I cannot drive the 41 for anything work related because of the terms of the collector's insurance but I drive it quite a bit in the summer time for pleasure drives. Every time I drive it is a pleasure.

  24. This is mine, just got a new paint job so I have to be a little careful on the dirt roads.

in my current 32 mile 5 days a week commute down 880 from Fremont to Hayward I see a 65 Nova, some sort of 65 ish Ford full size, and a 64 Ranchero out on the road a couple times a month. I can't even imagine how many cars I see a day... 1000? 5000? more? there is a shitload of traffic around here. Very few old car "daily drivers".

I drove my 61 Dodge for 3 years Fremont to Oakland. what a pain in the ass... stop and go with a non synchro 3 speed. a couple months back I had to drive it again for a month or so when my regular daily broke. more pain in my ass.

driving an old car in my daily drive is not something to be proud of... it's just a pain in the ass... and dangerous for the car. I see a wreck every fucking day. no thanks.

  26. This as often as i can
    [IMG]en as i can
or my 06 HD Dyna Wide Glide
the truck was in SAN Rafael CA from 74 to late 89
    In Fl ever since
    been in many southern states

  27. This car gets me everywhere I want to go, except in the months that snow and salt cover the ground (or when something breaks haha).

Its been my daily for five years, and it'll be my daily for another fifty, as far as I'm concerned

It generally has a back seat in it too haha
Took this just after getting it mostly back together and driving it, after getting some epoxy primer on it last winter

I've been driving this one on errands.

I take my 55 occasionally, and my wife's 70 Dart. Sometimes I even drive her "new" truck.
