Well its about time I start showing my project. This truck is my first car/ truck and of course my first project.

I got this truck to be my everyday truck to drive around and haul crap in. But, of course I had higher expectations then to just restore it and my Dad said I would be unable to complete before Nov. and he was is not going to fund it. But I'm going to build it in my vision anyways.

Here a simple list of things I hope to accomplish:
    Channel it 2"
    Possible chop it 3''
    Dr0p the truck 6''
    IFS

    IRS from a jagFONT]
Custom dash similar to a 56 ford fairlane
    Custom interior
    351w(optional)[has a 302]
    Split rear bumper
Modified 57 truck bumper curved to fit the body
    Remove drip gaurds
fix all dents and crushed fender
    Custom front grill

Its not a big wishlist if i'm not being modest.
So any way here are the pic of it so far

We don't have the most of the tools but my Uncle has spare tools that we are going to pick up this weekend. He'll be teaching me how to weld.;)

Here is a quick little update on thing I've done today. I was able to get the steering column out with the steering box, most of the bolts out of the rear fenders, just a few tough one left to cut off, and loosened the front cab mount and will have to cut the middle ones and the back one out.

    Goal for tomorrow:
    Remove steering linkage
    Take rear fenders off
    Cut cab mount bolts

  15. Pretty common problem on those old trucks and nearly impossible to find good ones. One of my F1's had the running boards welded to the fenders.

The braces at the bottom of the fenders seem like their notorious for rusting out. I had the hardest time finding original running boards that were in fair shape at best too.

Both of my front fenders have some major rust issues where the running boards mate up.

Sand bag, Hammer, dolly, roll, and 303 SS sheet metal. No more rust ever again.

I did some work on the truck today. What I thought was tons of dirt on the back of the left fender, turns out to be roofing tar or something of the sort. I have been useing a screwdrive to pull it off. It's been a pain to get off and was wandering if there is an easier way to get it off.

  22. You might try heating it with a small propane torch just enough to soften it (using caution of course) and try a putty knife. My $.02. Nice start.

And here is the After. I know it needs a little more work till it will be smoothen enough to be done, and to get rid of the rust, but its closer than it was before. ;)

  28. looks better

    keep going......

When I do a project, I'll try to do something every day. Somedays it's a big job, most days it's 5 or 10 minutes. That way I don't loose momentum.
