My motor runs at 2800rpm and its no problems to either polish or sanding. I used a grinder but it lasted for few secs. The disc got blown up so i did it manualy instead. There is no problem doing it with your hand aslong as you have it in the right direction and using gloves.

Old thread, but a great one...
I made something tonight I thought some might have a use for-

I have several old tire irons laying around I use surprisingly often. Tonight I needed a thin wedge I could hammer on to get an exhaust manifold off, and came up with this idea which can serve many uses...including bodywork in hard to reach places. You can beat on the one end to from creases, use the dolly end to get behind panels and hammer away, or you can use it like I needed as a wedge. The dolly was a el-cheapo I never used.

I cleaned everything up, welded the tire iron to the bottom of the dolly, then welded a washer to the dolly and the tire iron for even more strength.

Wouldn't stay rigid enough, particularly once you start to get heat into the tube. You'd still have alignment issues, defeating the purpose.

Some great ideas that don't cost an arm and a leg to make.

My late son built me a pair of the flanging pliers in the machinist class he was enrolled in at Perry Tech across the street from where I work about 22 years ago and they are probably my most prized tool. I can't remember what magazine the how to was in now.

I'll have to build one of those tube holders out of the pliers and angle as I am always needing that.

    Good stuff.

For those who have a lift and a engine hoist, here is a transmission jack that I made years ago. I used EMT for the parallel bar with steel plugs in the ends. It works great.
