I'd really enjoy seeing HAMB members 58 chevrolets.
Delray's, Impalla's, Yeomans, I just get churned up by their great looks.

Hope you folks are in a sharing mood and are ready for building the ultimate 58 Chevrolet thread.

Here's my feeble 58 Yeoman intro.

I've got 2 other projects on the go right now so this one is taking a back burner for now but I have done the brakes, wiring and its road ready. The sweet little 235 runs out great. I know a dual intake is in its future as well as complete body/ paint..

  6. A good friend wants to buy my Biscayne.. but I would rather not! He likes 58s, but I think it's just cos mines on the ground. Some people aren't good at seeing something for what it can be. Cos I showed him a 2dr 58 Biscayne, some what stock.. an he showed no emotion.

Lono.. are you still selling the wgn?

  7. Yep, your eyes don't deceive you.. There's lots of work to be done! Even though some of it's hiding under that tarp! Hahaha Thanks for the words!

My 1958 Belair, at an early Sled Scene East in Gettysburg, PA.

When I first got the car, 25+ years ago, '58s were way out of fashion.
All my car buddies asked why I didn't get a '57. And why ever did I get one with a truck motor? It had a 348!

But the 1958 Chevy was the car I always wanted, since seeing Andy Southard's great custom Impala in magazines as a kid.

As luck would have it, customs were making a come back and I attended the very first Lead East just two weeks after buying it. I bought a pair of fender skirts there and my custom was in the making. It eventually ended up as you see below.

    Sure miss that car!

Here's a 58 I did for a great friend, Lefty Rapetti. The pics appeared in Alan Mayes book, "Old School Customs" .
Lefty brought me the car, after a coupe other body shops dropeed the ball on restoring it for him. It was taken apart, and soem work done, but all sub standard. In fact, looking at it on the trailer, when he arrived at my shop...at NIGHT....I told him he'd be better off junking the car, and starting over. But since he'd owned the car since 1967, we decided to bite the bullet and do it.
Been finished since about 1990, and this is how it looked in 2009.
It's got a 348 with tripower, 3 on the tree. Sunked 56 Chevy taillights, smoothed out, quarter panel trim on the front fenders, frenched in roof scoop, with a discrete third braek light installed, custom grill, louvered hood, etc.

I've got a friend who has a lot of parts for the Brookwood including an engine. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I can put you in contact with him.

heres my 58 biscayne i picked up a couple months ago, should be ready for the road in a couple weeks. what i did was got it running, rebuilt the starter, sealed the gas tank, painted the roof white, did the brakes, fixed some electrical problems, and started modifying a tube grill to work on the car.

Man what set of early Fentons do for it.
I can hear the rumblings of a set of split Fentons and a dual intake in the future.

A compression test read 145 across the board. The guy I bought it off said it was rebuilt. I guess it might have been after all.

heres my Delray the day I got it 4 years ago. A running car with 283 3 spd. Rebuilt brakes and suspension already done and almost all the needed sheetmetal to fix it.

And this is how it looks right now. Just doing some side work to pay for paint and interior work.

The last picture is a little old because I decided to not use the skirts or the chrome.

Congrats the "survivor look " looks fantastic on this one, two door wagons are really cool especially as the longroofs look to be an up and coming highly practical trend. The mags really suit the car painted or otherwise, why not use it like this for a while?
I'm assuming here that a shiny paint job is in the offing.
