Chrome 34 truck grille, too gaudy?

you all need to get your eyes checked, hes right, its a 34 commercial, not a 32.

i think its too much! you shuould sell it to me

 

HAHAHA Jeff, it's actually a 33. 33's had the lil peak in front of the radiator fill, 34's took a big emblem like a car.

 

Yeah, i was gonna go back and look at the pic but i didnt, i knew it was either 33 or 34, my 34 has a 33 grille on it. just like the car grilles, the 34 has the chrome chunk 33 dont.

I like it! But it really depends on if it will go with the rest of the build. Definately very cool!

 

I like it! Just make sure the car is painted, doesn't work with patina - rust.

 

Build the truck around the grille. Make it work the way it is.

If it has the stock holes for the trim, it's a '34. Maybe you could do the opposite...find a stainless trim surround & paint it...ha-ha. I never thought I'd see a chrome one...me likey!

No holes for trim, I looked in the back and would have seen where the holes had been plugged.

Hey Pat, like your idea of running it for a test year-on my car though! Then I'll decide wether or not to keep it.

I'm not going to chop it, but I was thinking of raising the sides a little to clear the frame when I get the new 2" chopped Radiator.

 

Here's what it looks like with the body mocked up on the frame as well.

Like everyone else says...keep it..it will pop like a diamond with a dark color gloss paint...black, dark green, dark blue dark red.....trust me it looks amazing....

Down here some of the fire engines had a factory chromed grille.

 

Wouldnt it cost a small fortune to chrome one of those now days? I kind of like it. It will be one of a kind or one of few.

 

By the way, if you dont use it hang it on the wall for some awesome garage art.

 

I think like Kona, the only way it will work is if the car is done like a show car, definately not with patina. Think about it backwards, you have this great paint job but old ratty junk yard wheels and tires!

 

Well you couldnt lose it in a parking lot. Looks like a nice grille depends on how you build your car it wouldnt hurt to have more chrome to go with it cause it might look lost by itself

Love it! Whats the story on it,was it off an early show car .

 

It was chromed for a 34 pickup project about 30 years ago, the grille and fenders were in a seperate building and the shed with the truck caught fire and burned down.
The truck was a total loss, but the other parts survived. The owner saved them all these years and a friend of mine told me about the grille as he was interested in the fenders for one of his trucks. I never thought I would find something like this, as close to home as I did. Thanks John!
