Just finished up rebuilding this '56 factory dual quad Caddy engine. .030 over and an Isky cam, all stock other than that. When we got it. In progress Carbs before and afer Yeah, they were a little dirty inside... Just about ready for lift off.. And lift off....

Nope, it's gonna get backed by a 5 speed and stuffed in a '49 Ford business coupe I've got an extra set of valve covers you could put over your SBC though Who would have thought the dizzy turned in the other direction Can't wait to get it in the car!
That's cool. I have a friend that is casting up finned valve covers for that motor and they look real good. They have a really nice Cadillac script logo on them too. Let me know if you are interested in a set and I'll give you his number. They are available now and nice.

The stock covers are gonna stay on this one, it'll fit the look of the car better. I'd like to see a pic of those cast ones though. Got the dwell, timing, etc. set on it today and started tuning on the carbs some. That Isky cam gives it a pretty awsome idle. I'll get a better video of the exhaust tone when I get a chance. Thanks Martin! Hopefully it's got enough torque to keep up with you! Listening to it run, it's really hard to resist the urge to drag the '49 in the shop and start stuffing it in there! Thanks Mo! Finally a truthful first firing of a rebuilt engine. Thanks for the real life video. Most guys would edit out the wrong wiring part. I commend your honesty. That's more like my experiences with the initial start up sorting out the bugs. Too many of the sanitized versions. Bitchen' engine!! BTW
Love almost all of it it. Do have a problem with the High Torque starter. Must be a Bendtsen's adapter. With a bit of work you can still adapt a more traditional looking (Chevrolet) starter. Perhaps it's hidden in your application. Ron
Just got back from Dans . The motor looks gorgous and it sounds great. The ford is going to run great with the CADDY motor in it.
If backwards plug wires are the only problem on a start up I'm more than happy to admit it. It made it better that it got figured out and fixed in under 10 minutes too
It's a Wilcap kit and yeah, I don't like the starter. If it was going in my car, I'd dig up an old aftermarket flywheel and bellhousing. The engine is going in my Dad's '49 Ford business coupe and he was cool with the new adapter kit and starter. I think it'll be to buried to see anyway once it's in there.
