It's a '55 331 .030 over with 392 valves. Mild cam. Nothing special. Just going to be a nice driver for my '32 Ford roadster. It's got a torqueflite behind it.
That is very nice, you should start a build thread if you haven't already. Is that your roadster in your avatar? that is beautiful.
Why did you do 40 over? I have one just like yours and will be building it this fall - 'cept i don't have those fancy chrome covers - lol. You going with bbc water pump?
Looks great. The only thing I see that concerns me is the chrome chevy waterneck not being the right thickness on top to bottom to match the casting on the crossover
Thanks for all the nice comments. It's .030 over because of light rust in the cylinders. Yes, it will have a BBC water pump. Good catch on the Chevy water neck. Just had one and stuck it on there. I'll come up with something better. I bought the chrome pan. The original pan was rusted out. As you can see in the last pic, it's sitting between the Deuce rails. I had to buy a new frame because I couldn't find anything for sale anywhere around this part of the country.
Stupid me, i read 40 over in the specs and thought it odd, like maybe you found a set of 40 over pistons at a great price or the bore needed to be 40 over because of the 392 valves. Stupid mistake, thanks oj
Ha..I only noticed it because I tried the same thing. Hot Heads make a nice one but it's billet alum. I got one and painted it black. I have a couple of originals that angle to the side. I'd give you one if it would help you out. I wanted mine to go straight out. PM if you can use it. Jerry
Just so you fellas know, you can make those "billet looking" swivel water necks appear cast by rounding all the sharp edges, roughing them up with a needle scaler, sand blasting, and changing the hardware. I did it on my 392 Chrysler. Not for everyone, but I thought I would throw it out there in case it was useful to the Hemi guys.
Stupid question but do you have to make firewall changes for clearance issues in a 32 ford with a stock firewall? is it different with the early style hemis that have the cast in bell housing?
A couple of things. First I couldn't find an original frame, so I had one built with a 2" stretch because I knew I was going to use a Hemi. Second I don't have a body yet. I'm sure I'll still have to modify the firewall anyway. We'll see. I don't know about the clearance with an extended block engine. Maybe there are others on here that can help with that. Bill
Looks great should be one fun ride when done. On what hemirambler said if you decked the block and milled the heads you might want to open up the push rod holes. I needed to do that on my 392 because of the slight push rod angle change with the decking and head milling to square everthing up.
