Should Model A laminated windshield glass be polished or rough cut on the edges?

    Should Model A laminated windshield glass be polished or rough cut on the edges?
     
  2. no reason to polish it if it's in a frame.
     
  3. Polished. Rough cuts create stress risers, making cracks more likely.
     
  4. When I saw polished, they don't have to be a high polish,
    but the surface needs to be smooth.

    I agree with this..my new A windshield was polished..not gleeming smooth..but not rough either

    I've made my share of windshields in my time and I agree about the stress cracks, but a very big reason to smooth or polish the edges is to reduce or eliminate the chance of cutting yourself when you install it. Believe me, I have the scars to prove it.

    ^^^All of the above. Additionally, I believe that after polishing the edges, a good coat of clear on the edge helps seal the laminate and tends to prevent or reduce the "smokey" edge which sometimes appears later on. Stu
