Duane, I do believe that you will now be the most important Flatcad team member!:D

  3. Header and Exhaust Flanges: Just completed and sent to Don for burning out of 3/8" mild steel . . .

Just designed these in SolidWorks - sent the models to Don to laser cut out of 3/8 steel plate. I'm going to fabricate the exhaust system and headers. If I have time, I'm going to make two sets of headers --> 1) traditional 'W' style like we run on Flathead Fords 2) Collector style - with merge collectors.

I'd like to truly know which is better for a blown/gas Bonneville FlatCad - only way to settle the debate is to test them out!

Off the Columbus GoodGuys I go . . . need a break before the REAL Madness starts next week (car will be here on Tuesday!)

Here are pictures of the flanges:

Wow, that really looks great. When I made that piece I had no idea it would look so good when it was painted. Somebody is a master bodyman and painter. Thanks for giving me the chance to help.

nice chop! JK JK. Looks pretty cool. Almost a complete car!

  16. Hey Buddy:

Looking great! I love the looks of the new grille, the color, graphics, etc -- looking like a real race car. Now we just need to complete its "Heart" (Engine) and give her a 'Head of Snakes' (exhaust system) and we'll be good to go.

Wow,, I love it, I think the color fits the salt. I will pass the pics on to John and every one at Delcam.

  18. Pistons:

The custom pistons came in yesterday from Venolia - looked really good. They are specifically designed to match our combustion chambers, relief work, transfer area modifications, etc.. I'm not going to post pictures of them and the combustion chambers until after Bonneville. Then we'll know if my ideas were worth a CRAP!

I was up until 1:00 AM reworking them with 'transfer ramp' modifications. The work was too complex to explain to Venolia - so I did it by hand. Given that the FlatCad has two different piston configurations (due to angle of the combustion chambers) - I have 4 "Left" and 4 "Right" pistons.

I polished the crap out of the tops and the modified areas, balanced them to within a gram and brought them to Fowler's this morning.

Jeff/Fowlers has everything he needs to complete the reciprocating assembly and most everything else.

We have LOTs to do - Buddy and the car have arrived . . . time to go checkout what I'll be doing for the NEXT MONTH!

I might have figured that you two weird guys would get together. Buddy and Jeff, who in the heck would ever build a big Buick to go salt flat racing or a blown flat Cad. You guys sure are strange.

    Thanks Guys!

Gary, that's pretty funny coming from you!:D

Okay guys, Here's the car as I delivered it to Bored&Stroked.

We didn't get done as much as I hoped in Missouri . I called and chatted with Bored&Stroked and Rustybucket, and they put together a mini 'build team'. Awesome, huh?

Bored&Stroked, Rustybucket- It was great to see you guys again, and chat. Thanks for rising to the occasion!

So, this is my last update for a while- you'll have to get them from Bored&Stroked.

I'll give a play by play when we head to B'ville.:D
