As a lifelong Social Distortion fan, I make it no secret that I HAD to have a '54 after I saw Mike Ness had one. Then I saw Moonglow and everything else out there and that was that.
What famous car gave you the hot rod bug? Was it the "lil deuce coupe" or the Monkeemobile? I can't imagine how many kids want a '55 Caddy with a mexican blanket interior after listening to the Brian Setzer song... Milner and Falfa's cars probably still get a decent drawing, and don't even get me started on the Pharaoh's Merc! :D

Anyone have a favorite that I'm forgetting?

Any of the old 60's great gassers! I remember buying and building model cars in the early 60's and always gravitated towards the old Willys and Anglia gassers. Little cars with big engines were just too cool!

  8. Honestly, I'd have to say the Batmobile, in 1966, was my first real taste of custom heaven! When the show debuted on ABC in January 1966, I could not get enough of that car! As a little kid, I'll bet I had every toy version of that car that a kid could get!

The Beatnik Bandit and the Deora were also big favorites for me, and still are. The Munster Mobile was something I wanted as a kid, too.

The Speed Sport Roadster out of Tucson for the first choice. The '32 Chevy convertible (old SS car from DC) and then the fast factory Fords.

    Social D rox!
Me and my gal went to Hollywood (from Sweden) just to see them at the house of blues. Best spent money ever! Now they´ve been to Sweden two times and we went to both gigs!

As I was a youngster I played in a rockabilly band and I loved it, but it was´nt me.
I´ve started my own band and these days we play cool rock.
I like the lifestyle that SD stands for, the music, cars, clothing, tattoos and so on.
So it´s easy to say that music and who I am because of the music is the only thing that shaped my taste for cars. Because if I never had been introduced to the old rock´n´roll, who nows, I may have never got my eyes up for these cool cars. I´m driving a -48 Chevy Coupe. And yes, my spelling sucks. / Kris

For me , there was no "ONE" Car. It was a collection of several .

    Alexander Brothers Deora
    Darryl Starbird's Futuresta
    The Pierson Brothers 1934 Ford
    Bill Cushenberry's Silhouette

  30. Don't really think it is a famous car; but Marty Holmann's "T" on the cover of Hot Rod in March of '61 started this obsession out for me.
