Then I went back to my space and met up with more friends who stopped by to visit---
I would like to introduce you to my pal Guffey from Indianapolis....he tells the coolest car "treasure hunt" stories you could ever want to hear. You might say he is camera shy....

We also had the good fortune to meet Phat Rat (Jack) from Michigan and walked around some with him too. Real cool guy.

I enjoyed meeting Tub in Da Dirt for the first time plus his Dad. I tried to find their vendor space later to buy some banger speed parts but never found them even though I had written down his stall number. Sorry buddy---I tried.

Then I walked around some more and found Kelly and wife Jean of Kelly's Hot Rod Parts from Northern Wisconsin. I enjoyed talking to them for a few minutes. Kelly even combed his hair this time !!!

And that pretty much sums up day one of the swap meet. Me and the crew went to Crystal's for supper and had some really good fare....it may not sound or look that good to you but I had the pork and kraut dinner-----yum---flavor deluxe!!! Man, it was good. We all had pie and I forgot to take photos of it. Each of us had a different kind. My apple crunch pie was good but Eric's cherry-blueberry pie looked better. Then Cindy's chocolate cream pie with whipped cream looked even better...... heaven I tell you!

When we came outside after the meal a band was playing downtown in a parking lot and they were very good. And some local bee farmer parked his truck right outside the cafe---WTF? What was he thinking????
"come on Ma...let's go to town for some dinner" ----???? --ha ha--
    hopefully no one got stung!

  14. Cool...great shots. I always spend the day sitting at my space selling junk...seldom walk around until all the good stuff is gone.
I'd like to try that swap meet someday...looks like a BIG meet, eh?
Was good to meetcha a few weeks ago.

Frank and Cindy did mention something about whipped cream. He sure was walking funny, his legs looked weak

Now fast forward to Friday----the morning got off to a good "JUMP" as Cindy showed me her new pogo stick she had found at the swap. Some girls just never grow up---and I am thankful for that!

I liked these big 8 feet long signs too. Reminds me of Wisconsin for sure.

The Wisconsin weather did not disappoint----even though the locals seemed to think it was hot. We were able to relax and really enjoy ourselves. No where else can I spend 14 hours at a swap meet and not get worn out from the heat. Heck, I didn't want to go to the motel at night. Really nice up north----

Also on Friday my pal Bobwop showed up and spent the whole day with us. He is a car collector who also has a dealership with cars for sale. Lawrence bought a big block muscle car from him on this trip. I give him a hard time for being a car dealer (even though I used to be one as well) and I like to call him "Bandit Bob" just to tease him sometimes.....well---now I have proof---Bandit Bob----

But he is not a crook at all---it's just for fun---and Bob took us all out for a famous Iola chicken dinner right there on the grounds which is a long standing tradition at this event. In fact this event started as a car show with chicken dinners at the local park and then grew into a nationwide event. Boy the chicken was good too. Thanks Bob.

Later in the afternoon our new buddy Jack from nearby Steven's Point area and his buddy Wally stopped by. Jack is promoting the new KKOA event this September at Plover on the lake.....should be fun. He is the one standing up in these photos and Wally is sitting down. Kustom car guys----

We also found Guffey at his spot and had a great time hearing his stories again. Plus he showed us his new purchase at the event. A vintage King Kart. He and his buddy Hot Rod Harry were heading to the Millers at Milwaukee event down south....
