If you remember what city in Montana it was located in, I'd be happy to do some poking around. I love these stories. I've lived in Butte, Helena, Bozeman and Missoula, and know a few car guys around the state.

  2. Yeah were did it end up in MT? Still have fam & friends there.

    Great looking truck, btw!

I'll be doing some more digging in the coming days. I'll try to find out ASAP where it ended up in Montana. Still trying to trace the story and look for the lost contact info. Thanks for the offer to help!

This is a great thread, and a great story. I'm gonna be watching & waiting to see the outcome of this. It's almost like watching a show, and they post that...to be continued on the screen.....ugh! I wanna see how this comes out!
    Good luck there Bull!

Bull, lemme know if you find out where in Montana as well, a tech we hire at work lives in Montana, Bozeman I think? He recently shot a small budget film with a bunch of classics and he may have some contacts that could help out. I've got him working a gig with me Feb 7/8, can talk to him about it then.

Sorry to inform anyone that was a friend of Bill Gefre, Bill passed away during the night! He suffered a blood clot in the lungs. Bill will be missed by many! If you have any good Bill stories please pass them along. I have many good memories of Bill, he was my hero!!! Coney Nelson 01/30/2010

Wow!! Sorry to hear of the loss of another Twin Cities Hot Rod legend!
Those two guys built and painted some of the coolest rods and race cars around here back in the day! A friend of my Dads who grew up "Nordeast" near the Grain Belt brewery back in the 50's had a 39 coupe painted by them in the late 1970's. Paint still looks great today!

Coney, I'm so sorry to just hear this now. And even more sorry that I did not get a chance to meet or talk to Bill. My condolences.

I am still on the hunt to find Lil Ebony . . .

You need to come to some GSTA meetings and circulate with some of the old timers that knew Bill. Maybe a source of some photos or additional information...

Bull, If you had some good detail shots you may be able to create "Lil' Ebony II". Seems taht you should have had some hits from those who might have known or owned the car and know where it might be. Maybe start with the guy who built it. Sure hope you find it though.

Well, this truck is the reason my dad bought the one he has now. His is a 37, but very similar body style.
