Blueskies, are you doing anything with the suspension/brakes or are you leaving it stock?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've decided to leave the brakes and suspension stock for now, asside from cutting a coil in the front and lowering blocks in the rear. I'm in the process of replacing the stock brake stuff now, about half done. The overdrive will make a difference, but the car would do 60-65 easily before I tore it down, with holes in two pistons. Can't wait to see how different it is when I get it back on the road!

Wow, this is an ancient thread.

My '57 Plymouth Suburban 2dr wagon is getting a 289 Ford. It came from a running car, was only $200, and came with a C-4 auto too. ;)

I'm receptive to someone selling Chrysler Hemis for cheap..

  6. I like this thread...has anyone updated a 50 plymouth with a Chevy sub-frame? Will a 68-74 Nova sub work in these cars? (w/drum brakes as they are a little narrower than w/discs) Thanks

Rusty1- depending what your goal is, there may be no reason to sub it. Your 50 already has IFS that can be made to work much better just by changing the upper shock mounts from the A-arm to the frame as with F-1 mounts.
Then add a power booster and dual master to the brakes and do a really careful job adjusting them and you're done at minimal cost.

Well, since this very old tread was brought back up from the dead...

    My son has a 47 Plymouth coupe with a 360 4v, 727, 8 3/4 sure grip with 3:55 gears. (it's for sale)

I have a 54 Dodge 1/2t pickup with a Volarri clip, 360, 727, 8 3/4 with 3:23 gears. and a 50 pick up mounted on an 80 Dodge 4x4 chassis. 360 4v, 727, 9 1/4 with 3:55 suregrip rear and a dana 44 front with lock out hubs. (both of these are for sale, but only one will leave this go around, got to have something to cruise in..)

I am building a 37 Plymouth business coupe that I think will get a 3.3 from an Intrepid with the transaxle mounted where the rear end used to be. Just got the 3.3 out Sat, will let you know how that works out.

Just got a line on a 50 Dodge Wayfair on the cheap that may find its way here. Gene

Wonder how many of these earlier cars are still around?

  17. With the 58 dodge vert chassis I got, what type of aftermarket brake/pedal assembly should I use. I would prefer to use an under the floor type. Does anyone have anything in mind. I was looking at the mater power brake w/ dual master cylinder type. has anyone done such a modification w/ these cars?

I have a '41 Plymouth coupe. It has a 318 and a 727 right now. I'm slowly working out all the little problems that were overlooked in the rush to get it on the road. It rides real sweet and I'm looking forward to another high mileage summer.

Heres pics of my 38 Plymouth its a survivor and most of it is original.
The only thing lve done to it is to lower it abit and paint the rims red and put the Firestone wide whites on it so fare.
