A Hot Rod class is being assembled for the 2011 Concours at the Trump International Golf Course in Palos Verdes, CA. on September 17-18. You probably have seen the footage of this event on Barry Meguirs' Car Crazy television show.
The class coordinator is Jerry Mullins and he is diligently working to asemble a group of 8-10 prominent dry lakes roadsters from the 30's-
to the early post war years.
Vic Edelbrock Sr. and Sandy Belond's roadsters will be reunited for the first time in nearly 8 decades; the Spurgin roadster and Tommy Lee's,
Kurtis built speedster have also been invited and the possibility of including a tribute or two has been thrown around. The replica of Stan Hartwicks roadster is a likely candidate as would be the tributes, built by Lattin, of the Hilborn and Sakai modifieds. Billy C owner of the Calori has been invited but it is unlikely the roadster will be back together in time.

This event has all the potential of bringing together, for the first time in decades, the few surviving examples of the hot rods that formed our industry. Jerry could use some help though in making it a success. He needs a few more cars; he'd love for them to be pre-wars but he realizes there just may not be many more then the cars mentioned still in existance.

If you are aware of a pre-war lakes racer please contact Jerry Mulliins [email protected] or Michael Brennan [email protected] so they can get in touch with the owner.

If it becomes unlikelythat a complete class of pre-wars is possible Jerry is entertaining the idea of rounding out the class with a select few prominent early post war hot rods so don't hesitate to offer up those ideas to the guys also.

Thank you 777 for posting here at the HAMB. Hi all, this is Jerry Mull. I am the Class Manager of the new HOT ROD LEGENDS CLASS at the 2011 Palos Verdes Concours. Yes, we are looking for pre-war and post war open wheel Hot Rods, coupes or Roadsters that either ran on the Lakes, or were well known in the era (1937-1960). As 777 wrote, we are open to ideas on this. The tricky part is that while this event is held on Sunday, September 18th, we need to invite attendees in July. Not your typical Car Show, that's for sure! FREE entry for accepted cars, with two FREE admission tickets. A beautiful venue: Trump's National Golf Course, on the cliffs of Palos Verdes overlooking the Pacific Ocean. For more info see: www.pvconcours.org Cars may be Judged or Display Only, at owner's request. No matter what, please try to attend to see this wonderful Annual Event. Write me at [email protected] Thank you!!! -Jerry:>)

Thanks Jimmy B. I spoke with Terry on Monday and the Schenck is apart and unfortunately it may not be back together in time. Sadly the same holds true for the Calori roadster.

Thank you guys for your interest! We are still trying to track down a few great cars, but any additional help you can provide would be appreciated. We are looking for open-wheeled 1928-1934 Roadsters and Coupes than ran on the lakes or were well known in Car Magazines during the years 1937-1959. Michael has been working on getting some very awesome pre-war cars. Sorry no billet, radial tires, disk brakes or alternators. Only cars that were actually around in the Golden Age of Hot Rodding. This will be a super display and I hope many of you can attend.

The main issue we have now is TIME. The invites need to go out now (July) and get returned filled out and signed by mid-August. August is the cut-off date for names to be added to the Official Program. Consideration Forms may be downoaded here: www.pvconcours.com Thank you! Jerry:>)
