We have been working on this all winter. It's a 1959 17 foot Mallard "Canned Ham" camping trailer. It has 2 bunks, the bottom one will sleep 2 and it has a shower and toilet. The front dinette makes into a bed also. It spent most of it's life on a island in northern Minnesota. We had to hire a barge to get it back to the mainland. It never had any roof leaks so the wood inside is in great shape. Just finishing the new 12 volt wiring and it should be done. It's first trip will be to the Iola WI car show. We will be in camp spaces D&E 29 if anyone wants to stop by and have a look, and yes it's for sale.

Nice, I was thinking camp trailer again yesterday when I spotted a small one at someone's house.
I towed a 15 footer for a number of years to rod runs around the PNW.

Just happened across these pics of your camper. I'm assuming you sold it?

Love the Mallard! I picked up a 13 foot Mallard from Wisconsin that is in pretty rough shape. No title so not sure of the year. Your pictures inspire me, beautiful wood inside. Not much on Internet about vintage Mallards.

    Thanks for the pictures!

For future reference you can save the cost of a barge if you wait till February and tow it out over the ice. I bet that's how it got to the island in the first place.

Beautiful, beautiful trailer by the way. Nothing like a birchwood interior in the glow of a gas lamp with a faint smell of wood smoke.
