I have found 3 Sets of N.O.S Mag wheels. Story goes they where in a older warehouse and the current seller has had them for 15+ years. They seem to all be 14" and a mix of 4.75 bolt pattern and 5" on 5 bolt pattern. Never a tire or a lug nut has touched any of them. They have some shelf wear. What are they and what kind of money are they worth? No markings or names just the casting mark like <-> in the picture.
If they're American Racing Equipment they would be marked as such unless they are magnesium - these are neither ARE nor magnesium. They could be one of many brands of knock offs of the originals. Appliance are marked 'Made in Japan' and I seem to recall they have three strengthening ribs on the back of the spokes....
You say "seem to be 14s"...If they are 14s, they aren't worth much. If they are 15s, they are worth more. Width makes a diffrence also. A 14X7 ain't worth shit, but a 15X6, or a 15X8 makes them more intresting. A goofy 5on 5 pattern doesn't help either, unless you find the one guy who needs the big GM pattern for his Rivi, or Caddy... Put a tape measure on em and we can tell you more. Good luck, -Abone.
Outside lip to lip would measure about 15 on a 14..measure width on tire bead...inside..just trying to be helpful...d32
Where you see the "sticker" used to say BOLT PATTERN 5. This certain wheel pictured is a 14x7 5" on 5 The others are 14's and may be 14x6 4.75 No lettering on rims at all...just this...
judging by the back cut spokes, they should fit disc brakes, so they're later versions, not having a name cast into the back reinforces that. by the time these were made, they were pretty generic, probably a 'house brand' for sale at speed shops, chain stores, or through catalogs, like montgomery ward, sears or jc penney. a full set of nos, chevy pattern 15" *might* get you $400-$600, but usually people want name brands when they're spending big money. 14" 5x5 and 5x4 1/2 are a crapshoot, you might sit on 'em for years at $250, or they might go tomorrow for $400. (your mileage may vary) additionally, i'm just some dumbass on the internet, what do i know?
Thats more than what I showed up with! He wants $80 A wheel. I am on the fence. Also with the mass' if they were 15" they would be in the garage!
Wouldn"t pay no $80 a piece for them. If they were 15s and he had the center caps $80 a piece would be more realistic. And at the swapmeets you can pick up a set with tires for $400 to $500.
14 X 6 is one of the most common sizes, I wouldn't pay 80 each but that's just me, that's a common wheel. Like flamedabone said the 5 X 5 bolt pattern on the other doesn't help the cause either. The early Olds rear is that pattern for the gasser guys but you need width to sell to them. 40 each isn't a bad price if you can use them, but to resale you might sit on them till the right guy comes along.
Good chance that they are Superior Brand. Superior didn't cast their name in any of their wheels. Even though they aren't worth much, being 14 inch, if they are Superior brand they are very good quality. tempestan
Superior five-spoked wheels have no name cast into them. They were made in Van Nuys, California. Superior wheels were popular in the Seventies and are considered to be quality wheels.
A 14in 5x5 would be a real oddball, 5x5 was a big-car bolt circle and I can't think of anything those wheels would have been sold for that'd take a 14in wheel. Somewhere out there there's one guy who needs that combination for something, but no one else would give you $5 for them. 14x7 5x4.5 was/is a VERY common Mustang/Fairlane/Falcon fit, probably Dart/Valiant/Barracuda/etc. too. 14in tire selection poor these days esp. if looking for something grippy. Even 15in not good. Have to go to 16in to start to get a decent selection.
