My color is "Raped Grape"---Metallic 1992 Ford color.

  2. I always liked this one from Japan. I'll raise a toast, of "Crown Royal", to a "royally beautiful, purple" hot rod any day.

  7. Best purple car ever, really- Bill Wigzell's legendary L88 'Suddenly', with ace flagman Glen Dix side- saddle.

    * Photo disgracefully borrowed from the Paraplegic & Quadriplegic Association of S.A inc.'s 'The History of Rowley Park Speedway' 1949- 1979.

Gary Meyers and Elden Titus did a good job on her. One of my all time favorite Caminos.
You can find more pictures of the El Camino on the www.carnut.com web site. Here is
a picture taken at the SK500 a few years ago....

i agree, what a sweet car. I didnt know it was Titus work, and i dont know who gary meyers is.
Is it me or it had a diffrent front end treatment say 10 years ago?
It would be perfect w/ chrome reverse wheels and double pin whites, the americans and www are not my cuppa tea. still, i love this car.

Is this Craig's "Liberace" rodster? ive seen this pic a thousand times but never a full feat. Seems like a top notch car and i would expect it to be in many features. But maybe i just missed all the time for ?? reason. BTW, i'd love to see more of it :).

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Larry Watsons Grapevine, way before purple became popular.

My comments are a bit into the cat tails as far as "purple" cars go, but I'll offer my two cents.
Years ago, when I built my 54 Merc ragtop, I decided to change the color from white to .... something.
After weeks of deliberation, I selected a color offered by "R&M", which was a rich "darker lilac". I don't recall the color name, but it may have been a Lincoln or big GM color. Of course, the stock red and black interior had to go - replaced by a white and black scheme. The car had a new white convertible top, so I was good to go. The cars got a ton of compliments, and sold to the first guy who knew it was for sale.
To prove "karma" can be sympathetic to guys who like "different" paint colors, I then bought a 57 Merc Turnpike Cruiser in breathtaking stock "Sunset Orchid", and for the past 30 years have owned a pink and white 58 Edsel Citation.
Go ahead, paint your car purple, join the club, and be proud of it. Did I mention that if it's a Merc, I'll probably own it sooner or later.
