I sent a customer a windshield for a 1953 Corvette and he said it didnt fit. Later I find out that he has a 1953 Corvette "Nomad". I thought that this was the same car with a wagon rear added to the rear that would take the same glass. I dont have a listing for a "nomad". What do you think he needs?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and help...

That was a one-off GM built showcar and not really Corvette based, though the nose used Corvette styling.
Either he has the only one on the planet or he is building some sort of clone. I think there is a glass repro version around...in any case, the '53 Corvette does not really connect. This sounds like he has no idea what he has...if it is a kit repro it likely specifies some source windshield, if he has the unique original (right...), he just needs to call up Harley Earl and ask him to have the prototype shop whip off another windshield.
I'm sure the GM switchboard know where to find him!

Got me on this one, I was not aware of a nomad being offered in 53 especially a corvette nomad. If the nomad top was grafted on perhaps it takes a windshield to match the year of the nomad top........ i.e. 55,56, or 57......i know the made one in 58 also, but we all know it was a nomad in name only.........just saying

Superior Glass works is the company making the fiberglass kit. A little pricey.

  7. hes gotta be building a custom clone or something ask him what roof he used and to send you a pic of it

i doubt your gonna be able to help him unless he could use a cut down glass from a real nomad

  8. I doubt you will find a listing I think it was never a production car just a concept car. I could be wrong.

I would have thought that it took the same windshield also BTW.

  10. Up until a few months ago 5 or 6 of these were being constructed in steel by a friend of mine. The financial side of the project went south with the economy in the last few months. :(

    hi sel,
the windshield that you send was again not the correct size, it measured 54 inches, and the windshield that we need is 59 1/2 inches
if you measure the windshield from point to point as illustrated in the picture, I measured from the point that sticks out the furthest ( see arrows in picture below ) that is where we are getting the 59 1/2 inch's from, the windshield that you sent was only 54 inches from point to point, at least 4 inches to small, we did as you asked and opened the crate when it arrived and measured the windshield it measured 54 inches from point to point, still to short, so we refused the delivery, and the windshield is on its way back to you, please let me know what you want to do, do you think you can find me a windshield to fit a 53 corvette nomad that measures 59 1/2 inches from point to point ?, let me know what you want to do ?
    thanks

To repeat...original car was a handbuilt one-off show car by GM, and not really a Corvette relative. There is a company building the Corvette Nomad, they advertise in Rod and Custom, wonder if it is one of their bodies.

From what Ive read, this was a common misconception. The Corvette (Waldorf) Nomad appears to use a standard Vette front end with a Nomad top added, but the car was actually built on a '53-'54 Chevy car chassis. This is a larger plarform than the Corvettes of the same era, therefore the Waldorf Nomad body is actually larger than a similar year Vette.
Im thinking it was a one off windshield for the concept car, but maybe a '55 Nomad windshield would work in the kit car application?

  18. Reckon he's got a 55 Nomad with C1 Corvette stuff on it? I've seen a couple done like that.....

How on earth did this last part get translated into arabic (or whatever characters they are)? At least Google figured out what it said for me.

I dunno...I fear I have accidentally declared war on Qatar, and must go into hiding. Good-bye. Bruce

I just measured the windshield in my 57 Nomad and it measure approx. 59 1/2'' corner to corner and about 19 1/2'' top to bottom at the middle of the windshield between the wipers.

And there was only one, the one that K10 showed in his post. All others would be kits or someone's individual rendation.
