During the days of Harley Earl they used to design cars that looked like they were going 100 MPH while they were parked! Now they design boxes with rounded corners, but full of electronic wizardry that only a dealer can maybe repair.

Volvo's concept called "Philip" with Volvo's own V8. Only one built back in 1952.

This story is true. My friend remembered the bus at Tim and Jonies (spelling?) and he and I searched it out. We saw it up on a hill in Newfields with the inline six laying next to it in the mud and both gullwing doors wide open. This was about 10 years ago I think. The owner has since moved it and I believe it in Maine or Vermont

Maybe I have obsessive-compulsive disorder, but I'm fascinated by this stuff so when I come across more, I have to post it.(besides that, my cars are snowed in and it's freezing in the garage).
    Saw this on Hemmings blog.

One concept that ended up being built in Britain, years after it was 'concepted' (I don't think that's a real word...) The Ford x-2000 . Built By Andy Saunders, a quite famous custom builder/designer on this side of the pond.

He's also the same guy who restored the Aurora, and apparently still owns it.

All restored now Janbuick, what bugs me about the Andy Saunders custom is that he didnt make it into a true bubble top like the original model in post #162

ive seen andy saunders work while living in the uk and i wasnt impressed. this w/out considering the crap he did on tv w/ the sectioned vanagons and reliant shit boxes.
Seems like he gets more coverge than what he really deserves. just mho of course.
    the X2000 i didnt see.

This Mercury has since been mostly restored. I had a chance to buy it years ago for $2500 and passed on it. Big mistake.............

This car was totally restored to its original beauty by Tom Maruska in MN. Tom also painstakingly restored the Thunderbird Italien. The Italien was sold at Barrett Jackson auction to the Blackhawk Museum for over $600K
The XM 800 was also auctioned the videos of the auctions are on his Youtube site link below

The full history and restoration of these cars can be seen here

    and videos here

THat top looks a lot like a mid 50's Kaiser Manhattan, especially the dip in the windshield.

MrJynx, this Packard is positively FABULOUS! Is there any background info? Was this a factory exercise or an independent (even retro) effort! THANKS!
