Hot Rods 32 Ford 3 windows ex hypotetical deuce

It took a while to organzie transportation, but finally the poor 3 windows has arrived here in Italy and have started the long process of restoration.
I have placed the warped body on a good frame, bolted the cowl and an original firewall that I had saved for a special project and have started to work from here. Found the centerline of the car, and welded a long bar to the cowl and rear crossmember. At least have some fixed point. Then took two other bars and welded them in same position to left and right of centerline, to make sure the car is square. Removed some sheetmetal in the back to help get the car back to shape, since it was warped. Then before any other work was done, took an hammer and tried to get the roof back to shape. Some progress here. Same thing was done to pass side quarter, now it's welded back to the rocker panel.
Then started to work on the subrails, pass side was missing a good 10 inches, driver side 25 inches. Luckily Dan has provided me with a good rear floor, so can take measures and shape from this part.

OK I've heard of dueces being called a brick but never a box.

Saw the rest of the pics looks like work, not as bad a ditch digging so it should be fun wot=rk but it looks like work none the less.

 

Man, I hope you had that thing insured! You are much more ambitious than I am. Go for it!

I was hoping that Dan could build this 3W ... but had my doubts.
I do believe you to have the skill sets and determination to get the JOB done.

Steel is real but that is definately unreal !

 

Amazing what people will save, I'm to old to start a project that rough, rather spend the money to start with a decent body in this day of steel repops.

Wow. After seeing what you are using, I would find a new favorite body style. You are a hero!

 

It's humbling enough to think of someone in the states taking on a project of this caliber, but I saw you're in ITALY it blows me away! This is way more than I'd every be able to tackle, but it sure looks like you know what you're doing and I'm sure it'll come out great.

I have no metal working talent at all. I would have looked at that and said "It'll take $35,000 of body work and fabrication to make it right, just buy a Brookeville."

 

Good for you! Please keep us updated with the progress. Is this the body that belonged to the fellow in Scuba or deep sea diving school out in Washington? There has been some great bodywork that came out of Italy, look forward to seeing this progress. Bob
