If you want to lower it some cut two coils out of the springs and have a shop bend the beams back to get it back into alighment. Make sure you have bump stops, because the beam will be almost riding on it. Then save up and clip that bitch. Thats my game plan. Check out a thread on here thats something like jag ifs in a 64 F100. After getting an aligment it will drive like a new truck, or atleast mine did. If you dont plan on clipping it, convert to disks out of a 70s truck before you get the alignment and then it will be all said and done.
Just did some 3 inch drop beams and airride on my 65 i would have clipped it if i had to do it again, but a simple dropped shop truck got out of hand. If you plan on disc brakes on dropped beams make sure you buy beams with the later model kingpin size. the beams are a little expensive but are worth it, and safe.
If you have fab skills, my two cents is clip it. The last time I priced dream beams my jaw hit the ground.
you can cut them, but if you do you need weld the cut up and then box them in with some cold roll steel on both sides and weld them back up. did this on a friends 65 and it saw a lot of off road abuse with no issues ever. i would recommend getting a set of newer ones with the disc brakes, say off of a 74 or so. or just have a frame shop bend them which would be better anyway..
clip it or beams, mines on cut coils now and the ride is crap, i will be 73-87 c10 clipping it this winter then going on air.
i went the drop beam route once on my old '68 f-100. i think i paid around $600 for the beams, plus the cost of the disc brake setup. dumbest thing i ever did, could've clipped it for close to nothing.
