I got a 36 low cab a new 355 sbc a ford 9" loaded and the other parts I need to build a sweet little rod. I work in a recycling yard we get about 20-30 cars a day through there. But if anyone has any good suggestions I would like to here them. I do want to chop the top and make it suicide doors, I'm using the front half of a 34 ford frame boxed of course and cut right behind the cab then using 2x4 going up and over the axle. I wanted to just go with a single spring suspension on the rear end and I'm not sure if I want to use a truck box to hide everything or just leave it open I've got a mustang R/P I wanted to use for my steering. Also wanted to go with wide slicks on the rear not a narrow tire. So anyone got any DONTS for me please let me hear them.. Thanx

    Don't- build a rat rod.

Spend some time looking around here. If you do, you'll find some incredible cars and trucks. Some built by professionals, but a lot of really amazing cars and trucks built by "regular" folks. If that doesn't inspire you to build a traditional hot rod instead of a rat, then this probably isn't the site you were looking for.

    Good luck!

I like this..... a guy joins the forum to ask advice.Instead of trying to help him you punch him in the face, insult and chase him away.

If the sign on the door says no shoes ,no shirt,No Service you will get escorted out. If you can"t read and follow rules so be it. Nobody jumped on the guy and he apologized for the mistake. No big deal, like it or leave it.

actually, ryans sticky up top is pretty vague about ratrods. i asked that he fine tune it to include a word or two on ratrods. ryan prefers the current version. i guess we'll continue to see threads like this one.

seems to me that the current "Rat Rod" cost more to build or just as much as a real Hot rod People are fooling themselves to think that spending 10 grand on parts is still a "rat rod' put that hard work and time into something thats going to last your not madmax and these arnt end times no need to half ass it.

Another we could have converted away from evil has just been lost.......

He could have had al the potential to build a decent Traditional Rod if he had been made welcome. Some Guys see any Rod and not know what they can do without out some help to steer them in the right direction.
