What is the first car on the left?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Revoh, May 27, 2011.

  1. This is buggin' me. That's my granddad's old car lot, and I use this picture for the header on my blog. I can't figure out what kind of car is closest to the building. I think the rest of them are '37 Plymouth, '41 Ford, '41 Chevy. I used to think it was something like a '37 Pontiac, but now that I'm actually trying to figure it out, I'm not sure.

    What say you?

    I'd say it's a Pontiac but newer than '37. Maybe '40?

  7. Look at the trim on the side of the hood. I think that's part of what's throwing me off. I think it's some of this stuff, then I see that and think it's something else ...

  8. See, now that's probably right. Maybe it just doesn't look like that to me because too much of the grill is blocked.

    It's gotta be a '39 Pontiac.

1940 Pontiacs (& other big GM cars) had the headlights mounted down low in the fenders, not on top in separate pods.
    V/8

  15. ZomBrian clinched it, it's a '39 Poncho.

Do hover cars fly? That building seems awfully short. Or is that the outhouse?

Although it could have been modified on the red car, the B/W car has exposed hinges on the door.

If it was a 39 Chevy the tail light would be mounted high up on the rear fender.. I agree it's a Pontiac, 39...........
