Had a short day at work & thought to take a walk in the woods near where I was working, saw some cars, here are pix cheers!
last two. I took the oil dispenser home with me, that'll make a nice little project, dig the Mobil logo... That panel truck is pretty spifferino too in my book... Stopped into a local pub for late lunch on the way home, what a great friday! Cheers!
....and what did you have for lunch while you were waiting for the semi transport?? They are out there.....5*****
Looks like rust city, glad I live in Kansas where we only have road salt every once in a while and a fairly dry climate so they don't rot into the ground quite as fast.
I wonder what that truck is, never saw a extra cab that old, it has a look to it.... I think they would sell whole cars but most of the stuff is pretty far down and it'd be real hard to get out.
The one pic appears to show a 2 door Kaiser in the background, I bet someone would love to have the doors and jambs off of that one to convert a 4 door, not to mention the bumper overriders if they're on it. Also, the '54 Pontiac 2dht looks like it has all of it's beltline trim on it, those are highly prized to the Chevy hardtop builders. I see a LOT of good stuff in those pics.
Yes, what make is that extra cab? I picked up a roof like it, albeit a bit shorter at the Portland swap....anyone know?
I don't know. Some of the details like the wheels, the overhead motor. I thought maybe a GMC with those wheels and the GMC's used Buick OHV, but the hood side does not ring a bell at all. That is a sleeper cab, quite rare to find one that old. Still has the privacy curtain.
Lazlo, I saw stuff from the late 30's to the 60's. What was the latest (newest) stuff you saw? Makes me think that business has been closed for a long time. Was there a gate, fence, signs, buildings, anything to indicate a business had been there? Other than the tow truck... What a pile of old wheels and tires too!
Truck is an autocar I am pretty sure. I have a book here that will tell me for sure but I am hitting the sack so I will have to look it up in the AM. Jim
Maybe you are right...those Autocars had bobbed front fenders I think. I could not tell if these fenders were hit or if they were made real short on the back part.
Nope. it's in pa, out by New Briton. I go by Lazlo, he was my bassett hound, best friend.....got killed hunting the Poontango, sorta like I hope to go...
Heres a few pictures of the Mobiloil tank, kinda rusty but not rusted out, it's all freed up, even has some oil in it, seems like it should work. it'll be a fun quick little project!
Maybe the Kurtz family would love to have Dad/Granpa's door? A search revealed a Jack Kurtz painting contractor in Newville, PA. Might be a multi generation family trade.
