Actually the car has Not been lengthened. The rear part of the roof was a very small amount to lay it forward but not the car.

I have thought about it and it would probably be cheaper. I do like the darkened flames though. Kinda ghost flame like.

Ditch the flames altogether. Period. What does the interior look like? Is it a steel car?

Unfortunately it has a tweed interior which would have to be changed and it is a glass car.

  7. I think it looks great. I have always been a fan of fender skirts. I grew up in the 70's and had skirts on my high school car.

Tell that to anyone who's ever owened a Lincoln Zephyr and they'd laugh at you for that comment.

Interior is easy enough to change. As far as it being a glass car, you still have the same fun and make the same "vroom-vroom" sounds as the rest of us right?;)

pic 3 is the best for me. I think you will end up with a very cool build if you do this old style custom look. Certainly won't see another at a typical local show, and I'd bet it would be a crowd pleaser. The build will snowball and you will be looking at old interiors next :)

  15. I have offered Rex the flipper caps and a Lincoln front bumper for sale but he seems to be sitting on the fence here. What did you decide to do? Are you going to make the changes? The bumper needs work and is just sitting there in pieces but is savable

I would just sell the fiberglass street rod and build a new car. Seems more sensible to me.

Don't mind the 'glass. The car's running, titled, and licenced, isn't it? They aren't making any more gennie '34s, and 'glass cars are getting harder all the time to create from scratch legally. Anything to swell the numbers ...

I don't understand some people who don't seem to understand that early Fords are not a renewable resource.

  18. Let them laugh away. I laugh when I see a hot rod with frikin' fender skirts on it. ugh!
Its all opinion. He asked....I gave mine.:)

  19. These are photochopped with the same background. Get your tape measure out, they aren't even close.

The version of James D and mine are the same except the bottom of the top on mine is moved back an inch or two, then the whole rear portion is angled forward to meet the stock location at the top again... thats all that was changed. The body is not lengthened at all.

Im glad someone else shares my opinion

But to answer the question, #3 will get the concensus of the HAMB

    however, my opinion is:
    lose the flames
    add stock hood sides
    change the interior
    change the mirrors
    change the lights
    add bumpers
    new wheels and tires

you could probably sell the car as is, and buy one closer to what you want and in steel

Believe me, I have thought about that. However, I am not hung up on the "it's not a Real one" thing. Screw that.
Mine is done and safe and titled and paid for etc.
By the time I sold mine and bought a steel 34 or 35-36 for that matter, I would have more spent to get the same result. Besides. All most ALL 34's are Not customs so I will have something that most dont.
If I bought a 35-36 and changed it into a custom tail dragger or bought one already done I would be just like the rest. Can't say that about the 34's.

  25. Yep, thank you! Like I said in my first post, it gives it a coach built look with a straight eight. Which is really cool I think-makes it more elegant and more befitting a custom as opposed to a hot rod.

  26. The photoshop car is not lengthened overall. Only the roof is slightly.

Just get some vintage wheels and call it done.

If you "Have" to make changes, think about better brakes, better handling (to dodge the ricers and granny's) and perhaps more power.

    Fiberglass is fine!

Well luckily for us... you girls are in the minority here!
Skirts look good on nearly every car, as long as the car has the right stance!
