So I was driving my 52 customline on the freeway and it started feeling funny... i get underneath the car only to find this... completely cracked the tail shaft housing on it... if anyone knows where i can find another one or has one they're trying to get rid of PLEASE let me know! i posted a thread in the wanted section of the classifieds... thought i'd try my luck on here as well... any help would be much appreciated! thanks in advance!!! I have a Borg-Warner T-86 with an R-10 overdrive unit on it. 26-spline input, I think. Something with lots of splines. It's here in NY. No idea on the condition of the overdrive, but the gears in the tranny look pretty good. I got it cheap, and I'll pass it on to you for what I paid, plus shipping. PM me if you're interested, I can probably find some photos.
i believe the drive shaft may be off balance and the pinion angle was too high... and i was driving it like that for a while.... i think it just finally gave out from all the stress... i dont think a weld will hold up for that long on the cast iron.
