10DN Alternator Light Flicker..

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Pitts642, May 13, 2011.

  1. The lights on my 64 Pontiac have always flickered at idle.. Is there anything that can be done to correct this.. A new regulator made no difference..

I just bought a new, polished, 10 DN alt from Summit and it does the same thing..

    Thanks.....

Are you spinning the alternator fast enough to make it charge at idle? You might need to change the pulleys around to get enough RPM on the alternator for it to charge when idling. Either that or you have a loose connection somewhere, maybe a ground strap that is bad.
