I snuck away from my paying job to go check out some cars that were invited to IMS as part of the Centennial Celebration. I'll load a few pics and try to post some more when I get home tonight. They're not exactly hot rods but pretty cool stuff in my opinion.

They're very nice, but look like they might be out of my price range. But you can keep the pics coming. They are neat to look at.

Yep. They're definitely out of my price range too. Interesting the amount of parts on these cars that our kind deisre...Woodlite headlights (and other crazy rare makes), curved glass Stewart Warner gauges, lever action shocks... The dashes and steering wheels are as interesting as the exteriors to me.

I believe this is a Talbot Lago, but not sure what year or exact model. It was rolling out to take a lap on the track, so I couldn't get real close to it.

Damn.......How dare that bug decide to smash against my windshield as I drive around the track.

At least they can say they are driven. Well they were driven to the track in a trailer;) (Which I would do to, if I owned one of them)

Those are some might fine pieces of automobile machinery. It is great of the owners to bring them out for folks to see and hear them, not locked up in some museum (Even if I can't own one, I can dream, can't I?)

    Keep the photos coming.......

It's deceiving how big the Stutzes, Duzenbergs, Cadillacs, etc are. Even though they have the same basic shape as a Model A or Deuce, they are about 25% bigger.

Yep I slipped over to the track this afternoon and watched the old "original" Indy cars run the track.. Every car had ran at Indy during it's life.
Stayed way too long, nice afternoon to sit and watch.......

The blue one that's all cab is a Stout Scarab.
The black limo is a Pierce-Arrow.

I would say somewhere between 15 and 18 million depending on how the market was on a given day :)

  23. These were the FIRST true factory hot rods! Definitely nothing OT about any of these legendary cars.
