Done a little bit more work with the doors. Put in those solenoids and made my own "doorpoppers"... Thanks IKEA!
Gonna remove its bolt heads too.

Put in a "smuggle compartment" cause those "poppers" came in a pair...

Put some lead on those welds and made me a body file. Not beautiful, but not expensive either and does the job.

No, Commer (parts of Rootes group), Bedford and Austin are three completely separate companies.
There will not be any interchange of parts between the any of them.

Yes, you are right. There will be a good commonality of things like brake parts across many manufacturers, just like in the USA.
Body and chassis components though, will have no commonality as they are completely separate companies.

I'm enjoying this build, keep up the good work.

    Yesterday was a great day!
My $5:- chinese wrist watch showed finally the right day and date! (It's printed on the face...)

Since last update I have done about thousand of these small things that not is worth putting on the forum, but progress is there.
    • Lowered the "sofa" frame and added rails to it
    • Fixed the steering wheel (old Fiat Sport something...)
    • Forced the doors to fit!!!
    • Changed the original headers? from down blowing to side blowing. Anybody out there knowing why the headers have an outher skin? As far as I can see, it's only the manual gearbox cars who have it, not the automatic.
Next step is to change the cam timing belt and waterpump, connect the water- and oil cooling systems and try to figure out witch cable is witch on the ECU.

That means upstart is ... coming in a while!

I believe (though I may be wrong) that the outer "skin" on the headers is called "the foreskin". Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Cables and wiring, + and - and never they should meet! I beleive I have most of it clear, since my model railway days, but this is another ball game!

<O:pAnyway, I think I have found the "important" connections and will give it a first start attempt on Friday.

<O:p<O:pI hope nobody at work will miss the vacuum pipes, they are now doing service as cooling water transporters!

<O:pTight is the word when I rebuilt the original oil cooling system. The engine is now only allowed to move 5mm sideways...<O:p
    </O:p
    Wish me luck on Friday!<O:p

'Cause they got mufflers and catalytic converters and long pipes... and stuff?:D
Well, Im gonna need that too, at least for the inspection...

    Thanks anyway!

PS. I can call you when it's time for a "drive by" without the pipes. Then you only have to go out to the Autobahn and listen...!!! DS.

Are you using coilover suspension up front?

Nah, just a pair of torsion bars from a VW bus. Wanna keep the center of Gravity as low as possible.
Those on the rear are Audi A4 front struts:rolleyes:.

Totally agree with your signature! Spot on:D

Been working with all those 1000 small things like brackets and adjustments and things. Since the engine mounts are rather hard, I deceided to give the cab some suspension, but adjustable.
First 4 rubber "cusions" for the cab to "float" on, then four rubber suspensioned mounts to prevent it from moving sideways. Those gives me also the possibility to tighten the nut and make the cab really firm (for those places you want to drive inspired...

A connector between the accellerator pedal cable and the engine cable was also made from a scrap piece of stainless. Now I need new drill bits...

First test run is coming closer... Only problem is the garage is downtown...
Will add another nice touch of excitement to it :D

Cherokee 64, thanks alot for those word, but I'm just an ordinary guy who learned by doing mistakes. Must be a lot of mistakes, I'm 58 years now!!!
And we don't have the aftermarket industri that you have.

But the inspiration comes directly from your country, no dough about it.
    I learned from the best!
I don't mean it in any unpolite way, but in Europe we need more "crazyness", daring to build more "out of the box"- thinking. (Not kit cars!!!)

    Thanks.

The cab mounts are now temporarely in place and the cab now only moves up and down, not sideways.

The oil reservoir for the clutch is a "borrow" from the kitchen.

    "Got salt", Mike? :)

The exhaust system is designed for two purposes:
    1. To easy add one more silencer (per side) for the noise inspection, and afterwards...
    2. To be able to add two "Rotary Silencers" in the future.
The outlets are coming out in front of the rear fenders.

The air filter is just simply connected to the engine via a kitchen fan hose in alu. I liked the finish of it and the price, $5:- :)

I have learned that a build like this not only requires skill and proffessionalism, but also a deep understanding and knowledge of exclusive and delicat materials...
Example of a bracket for the exhaust system, see below.
